match three pirates is the developer's second attempt at a match-3 game, the first being gems of magic: lost family, a masterclass on what not do do in a match-3. based on that I didn't expect anything good here, and while at first I thought I was wrong, the proverbial cat eventually crawled out of the bag. there's more of a story in this, voiceovers too, and not just in the intro. pleasant surprise. I mean they're not great but I've heard worse. a mother (that's you) and her son are at a carnival, the kid opens a treasure chest and they both end up in pirate-land, but the kid is nowhere to be found. oh no... 100 levels this time, still unlocked one by one, still with a mandatory move limit, but something I've not seen often, maybe ever, is once the goals are met, you can move on or keep playing for more gold and a better rating with the remaining moves. though I guess most games automatize this by adding points for every move left. 4 boosters can be bought before every level, provided they are unlocked. they can be all the same if you want, but each costs more than the previous …

Its a pretty straight forward Match Three game, Honestly nothing special UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY LOVE PIRATES! The story line is a little lackluster and could be improved upon (more story points in general as the story parts seem to far apart) but it keeps with the Pirate theme and helps to keep you immersed in the game. The visuals are pleasant, and nothing to scary for younger children nor to childish for adults to enjoy. As you progress though the game you earn "Skull Coins", used for buying temporary in level boosts, and "Gold", used for buying ship upgrades which are permanent/always on boosts. ** TIP: Replay some of the completed levels that earned you lots of gold to buy the ship upgrades faster. ** Overall its well thought out and presented beautifully. The Captain Orders you to buy this game.

I am changing this review to a positive. I think that the level needs adjusting. I was able to beat it by using a couple of power-ups to make a match 5. Then, use the match 5 bonus tile to remove all of something. This made more lanterns and power-ups. So, it ended up working out, but it's still too early a level for this kind of manipulation. Put all of you pirate coins into the power-ups, not ship upgrades. You will need them to complete the levels. ------------------------------------------------------- BROKEN! It asks to do things that are not possible to do. It asks me to collect a bunch of lanterns for a level, but it never produces that many. With limited moves, I don't see how this is possible. Been a year, and I still can't beat it. Forum support seems to have died. I cannot recommend this game. I have seen others with issues.
