About Math Rescue

This madness can only be the work of... the Gruzzles. In your last tangle with the mean ol' Gruzzles, you stopped them from stealing all the words from our books (in Word Rescue). This time the Gruzzles are taking all the numbers and it's up to you to get them back.

Math Rescue is for ages 6 and up, and allows for a variety of options and skill levels. One of the options allows you to select the type of problems, either addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, or mixed.

Play as either a girl or a boy and visit amazing locations on your math-solving adventure, including undersea, volcanoes and the cosmos.

I get that this is an old game for children to learn math, but man this feels clunky. I think these days there are much better free games and content out there to learn basic math from now, and this is just far too dated now. If this game was free instead of $4.99, maybe it would still be worth a shot to let kids play.

Math game for 7 or younger kids from the DOS era. I'm too clever now, and I overcomplicate the math problems. It made me giggle a few times

Another from the 90s DOS game. It's a pretty well thought out educational retro training game. Defeat the Gruzzles while problem solving. If you have children it would be a nice way to teach simple mathematics while keeping them engaged. It's pretty fun to play, Overall 7/10.

Oddly enough, we didn't end up rescuing math and it's so far gone now.

Struggling to get your kid to stay away from TikTok and chatGPT in order to learn mathematical operations? Sucks to be you, but here's a DOS game regardless. Yes, the 1992 not-so-hit not-so-sensation Math Rescue, a 2D platformer that, in all seriousness, works more than adequately for the time it was released. It features the basic operations you know and (maybe) love: sum, subtraction, multiplication and division as well as some problems to interpret which ones you should use. Also, not only does the game motivate you to do them right in order to progress but to avoid getting a game over from the balance you need to make from your shields (lids in this case) and attacks (slime). Run out of slime, then you have to avoid touching enemies which is easier said than done. However, run out of lids or fall off, then you have to play the stage again. Of course, from these last sentences you might start to wonder if the game's too challenging and it isn't but it doesn't pull any punches either. You need to perform well on the jumps and fortunately the controls work well for that. Jump is measured by button press length so you can maneuver with that. Furthermore, not all the collectib…
