About Medieval: Total War™ - Collection
Command massive armies across medieval Europe, North Africa and the Middle East from the First Crusade to Constantinople's fall, recruiting troops, besieging castles, orchestrating diplomacy, and deploying spies and assassins to build your dynastic empire. This collection pairs the original grand strategy classic with Viking Invasion, adding Norse and Anglo-Saxon factions battling for control of Britain and Scandinavia from 793 to 1066.
About MEDIEVAL: Total War™
From the lush grasslands of Western Europe to the arid deserts of Northern Africa, and from the first Crusade to the fall of Constantinople, wage total war in order to expand your influence and secure your reign as you build a dynastic empire to stretch across four centuries.
Recruit and deploy armies, besiege settlements, fight naval battles and employ agents such as emissaries, spies and assassins to aid with diplomacy, offer alliances or bribes, or execute more clandestine actions.
A dramatic period of rebellion, civil war, and the birthing of nations provides the backdrop to your own scheme for ultimate power. Carve a niche for yourself through the crucible of battle and become the statesman and king the era demands.
• Fourteen playable factions from across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
• Up to 10,000 soldiers on-screen deliver incredible, epic battle scenes.
• New siege systems make the most of an era where formidable castles dotted the landscape.
• Valour, Vice and Virtues colour your faction’s characters, effecting how other treat them and the men they lead.
About MEDIEVAL: Total War™ - Viking Invasion
Set upon an extended map of the British Isles and western Scandinavia and taking place from 793 to 1066, Viking Invasion allows the player to assume the role of leader of the Viking faction as they raid, loot and pillage their way to supremacy.
Alternatively the player may take control of early Anglo-Saxon factions, such as Wessex and Mercia, with the aim of repelling the Viking invasion and ultimately controlling the British Isles in its entirety.
• Adds new Anglo-Saxon and Viking factions with additional units alongside the detailed new Campaign map.
• Also includes added functionality for the main game, such as flaming ammunition and three new factions with which to play through the original Grand Campaign.

I have played this game over many years and I never get bored of it. Easy to play and fun. Battles range from small skirmishes to huge battles. Only negative is some battles can take hours and you cannot save midway though them.2 found this helpful
I loved this game growing up, but man, it does not hold up anymore, even with the benefit of nostalgia. The battle UI and controls are clunky, the camera controls will make you cry, and it is very easy to give the wrong orders to units due to all of the above. The empire management level fares somewhat better, but is still frustrating because of weird mouse control issues with moving units and titles around. Rome Total War is a superior product on all levels, and holds up perfectly well despite its age. The soundtrack remains an all-time height that the Total War series never recatured. Listening to "Euro battle 2" start playing as you give your first attack order of the battle is always a rush...2 found this helpful
I'm currently running Windows 11 and I've had zero problems. I've loved this game since it came out, but it looks like it's time to say goodbye! Whether it's on Steam or on my Window 7 pc, the game crashes at least once everyday. It doesn't matter what the screen resolution or refresh rate is, or the game settings, once you think it's good it crashes again, typically when you try to save the game. Some games can't run on newer systems than they were originally built for, especially since they stopped supporting the game more than a decade ago.1 found this helpful
Love the geography and faction-relative troop types. These things alone, especially the old place-names, are worth acquiring the game. Gameplay is somewhat clunky, but this was the original.1 found this helpful
Surprisingly hard, I like the modding scene (dead now but good mods)
Its old, and that can be seen.
