What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Players praise Fall of the Samurai as one of the best Total War entries, highlighting engaging gameplay, accessible performance even on lower-end systems, and addictive mechanics that draw players in deeply. The game is consistently recommended as excellent value, particularly for newcomers to the Total War franchise or those seeking a quality feudal Japan experience.
If not the best then one of thew best total war game of all time. campigne is great, factions are awesome, controls are well optimized, and you can buy peak DLCs to put a cherry on top of the cake. I firmly believe that if someone wants to try a total war game for the first time than this one is the best for you. What surprises me is that game is 14 years old and still gets good reviews. Also from the point of history this game is quite interesting, because its about Japan, a country that we rarely talk about during a history lesson. <-----------Also true for the DLCs!1 found this helpful
still one of the best total war games after all this time
the best game ever made
This game has aged well. While still enjoyable, it is not as sophisticated in game play as Total War - Romance of Three Kingdom. There are a reasonable amount of city, soldiers and agents (monk, ninja and etc.) upgrades. The base game is a good 10 to 20-hour play. Like all strategy games, the replayability is pretty high but not as excellent as other later Total Wars titles.
This game has obviously aged and all the flaws have become very apparent. It was a fun game, but there are other better options now.
10/10 would route the Date again
