About Monologue: Winter melancholy
Monologue is a visual novel that immerses the reader in a world of internal struggles and hopes, tinged with sadness, but with the possibility of a brighter tomorrow.This story of a sad man celebrating the new year alone serves as a reminder of the importance of caring for each other and spreading kindness around us. Indeed, in the darkness of loneliness, a holiday can become the most difficult test for those who are left without help and support.
The plot develops through the hero's inner thoughts, memories of past New Year's evenings with loved ones, and hope for change in the future. The meeting of midnight becomes a point of revision for the protagonist, an opportunity to find meaning in his loneliness and find a path to his own happiness.
On the night of December 31 to January 1, the hero of our story finds himself alone in his small apartment. The whole city shines with bright lights, and the streets are filled with laughter and joy of welcoming the new year. However he standing on his balcony, feels only a sad atmosphere around.
This visual novel is a short but vivid immersion into the world of loneliness during a festive moment. Completing the game leaves the player with a deep sense of reflection and perhaps a unique insight into their own experiences in similar moments.

A short visual novel that discusses the internal struggle many people experience during the holiday season. Focusing on topics such as family quarrels, regretting past decisions and the feelings of loneliness, hopelessness and unhappiness. These melancholic topics come together in the form of what seems like a diary entry. The translation to English here is quite poor and often uses words that make no sense in the given context and some do not appear to be English words at all. A small section in the game is left untranslated, and although majority of the game is readable and understandable, the tone from the broken English completely ruins any thought-provoking moments within players. Instead, I found the tone to become rather accusatory and even comedic at times, especially with the poorly translated phrases. At one point the dialogue even says "get up from the computer and do something useful! Stop wasting your times playing games! You can do better!" I understand visual novels are creative mediums and sometimes do not fit precisely within the "games" tag but they are still video games, and going by this text it appears the developer is trying to share a message, to not buy the…24 found this helpful
This popped up randomly in a curator page I'm on and figured why not. The art looked good and it seemed like an okay way to kill some time. It's a visual novel so you're reading a lot and if you don't care for that kind of thing this 'game' just isn't meant for you. Monologue: Winter Melancholy is a sweet little project that did a good job capturing the end of year "winter melancholy" some people experience around the holidays. The writing isn't anything super deep but there are some great pieces of dialogue/thoughts. Going through this all I could feel was "...damn." There are three choices in the game, where to walk to and smoke (a store, outside, and your balcony), each with different text. The optimal way to see all of this is choosing either outside (middle) and then the balcony (right) on a replay since you'll end up at the store both times anyways. The game is 5-10 minutes so it isn't that much of a commitment. While I would prefer it to be free since it is quite short (I have 40 minutes since I was writing this while it was running), $1 isn't a terrible price when you really connect to the subject matter.
