Monroe Murders is a very short (~30mins) but sweet visual novel about some unlikely acquaintances in a small town where nothing is quite as it seems. Murder is on everyone's mind and danger seems close at hand. Features some dialogue choice & multiple endings. Starts as a slow burn but it's well-written & the twist at the end is solid. Ever go out on a rainy day to hang out in a cozy coffee shop and relax, maybe do some people-watching? This game encapsulates that feeling. I love the muted colors and the music. The writing is enjoyable, relatable, and very human, and got a few genuine laughs out of me. The game play is simple in a good way. I also really like your character's phone interface. The voice acting is great. It feels like talking to people I know. The music is wonderful and nuanced. Gameplay for me was a bit unpredictable, so a nice surprise. I like the down-to-earth ness about it, and it was surprisingly challenging to get the different endings. Pay attention to the tip jar, and which characters you prioritize during certain scenes. Super recommended. Best indie game I've played in a while.1 found this helpful
