About MOONPONG: Tales of Epic Lunacy

A roguelite Pong'em up where you go to rescue the Moon.

Due to extreme climate catastrophies the Moon has started moving away from the Earth. Fortunately the NASA was expecting this. They quickly launched the "Moon Paddle" program, with hopes of controlling the Moon's trajectory. The climate is decidedly done for, but we might yet bring back the Moon.

Control the Moon Paddle and keep the Moon inside your perimeter, while bouncing it into waves of celestial enemies. Buy items to help you on your lunar quest, or keep your money to buy better items further on. Complete the different challenges and unlock more items to find on your runs. Face \ and bring the Moon back to Earth, or continue into the next loop and see just how far you can go.

The game features 4 difficulties, and a range of additional settings to make the gameplay more accessible and to make the animated backgrounds less intense. Runs usually take about ~20 minutes to complete.

MOONPONG: Tales of Epic Lunacy, developed and published by PUNKCAKE Delicieux, takes one of the most basic ideas in gaming history and stretches it into something chaotic, stylish, and unexpectedly strategic. At its foundation, it borrows the familiar logic of bouncing a ball within a confined space, but quickly transforms that idea into a fast-paced roguelite where the “ball” becomes both your primary tool and your greatest liability. What emerges is a game that feels instantly recognizable yet constantly unpredictable, driven by momentum, timing, and controlled chaos. The central mechanic revolves around guiding a circular paddle that orbits the edges of an arena, keeping a bouncing orb—your “moon”—in play while directing it into waves of enemies. At first, this interaction feels almost hypnotic, as you settle into the rhythm of tracking the ball’s movement and nudging it toward targets. However, that sense of calm is short-lived. As the game progresses, the speed increases, enemy patterns grow more complex, and the number of threats multiplies, turning each moment into a test of awareness and reflex. Maintaining control becomes less about precision and more about managing unpre…

Interesting little game that takes the concept of Breakout, but makes the level circular, adds enemies, and throws in some roguelike elements for good measure. The enemies have interesting attack patterns, and the upgrades are varied enough for them to be fun additions to an already great concept. It only took my 2 runs to beat the game on normal mode, but there are two difficulties higher than that... plus a looping system where you can ignore the last boss and then start the run over with added difficulty. I love when roguelike games have looping in them, so that is a huge bonus in my book. I love arcade games, and this one feels like something that should have been in an arcade cabinet in the late 90s. I am really happy I took a chance on this one!

A challenging arcade game that's great to replay thanks to its simple mechanics and excellent endless mode. The many accessibility options for the visuals/gameplay are also appreciated (including the equippable hats for the moon and cursor, those are essential).
