I love everything about this game, but I was very disappointed when I saw they used gen AI to portray the nightmares and icons of unlocked skills you find, and the main reason why this is a negative review is because this isn't even said in the Steam description. I understand it's their first game and it's not easy to make an indie game with a small team, so I get why they'd use it as place holders or in a very early stage of development, but now that the game is so advanced and is getting the recognition it deserves, there's no excuse to have generic slop instead of using drawings made by an artist who can draw interesting, unique and terrifying nightmares, mantaining the quality of the rest of the game.2 found this helpful
Spark in the Dark is a fascinating contradiction: it’s an unusual game that wraps itself in a very usual style. At first glance, it wears its inspirations on its sleeve, utilizing a dark, atmospheric aesthetic that dungeon-crawler fans will immediately recognize. But don’t let the familiar top-down look fool you. Beneath its traditional style lies a brutal, unforgiving hack-and-slash core with the uncompromising difficulty. Every hallway is a threat, every enemy demands respect, and a single mistimed swing or failed dodge will send you straight back to the checkpoint.2 found this helpful
I dont know how this game has very positive reviews. on one small detail: i played it like for 2 hours and got few achievments that has only 2-4% of players. while those achievments very easy. like "complete one floor in medium armor" (while it can be done like in 20 minuts). so most people who bought this game didnt even complete one floor. or completed it once with only one champion in heavy or light armour. but somehow came up with review about the game?! what you can tell about the game if you didnt complete even one floor?! so what we talking here about? this game frustrating even for veterans like me. and achivments showing it. its very unsatisfying. to the point where 98% didnt complete even one floor. and loot very "meh". my first dungeon i was running with same axe like 40 minuts. while loot is everywhere. it just all useless. i can see this game tried to combine exanima and darksouls. but unsuccesfully. better go play those games. because here only frustration. like for example all humanoid enemies pretty interesting and fun to fight againts. plus they at list has loot on them after death. so you feel rewarded (sadly all loot is garbage as i already said). but most ene…1 found this helpful
One of my favourite dungeon crawler, love it
An early access game that earns its keep within just a few straight hours of play. Works great with Mouse+Keyboard or game controller. Still some ways to go but already has excellent bones. For the money it's an easy recommend.
I like the game but it randomly freezes my PC, running this on LINUX Mint. Tried a few things (updates, timeshifting, other compatibility mode) that did not change this from happening. Can only recommend avoiding this if you are using Linux
