Mr. Hopp's Playhouse: The Toybox

i hate this game

I am EXTREMELY mixed on this game. The first half of the game could’ve made this game as good as the originals, but immediately goes down hill on the second half. As soon as you get the hammer the game turns from good to hell; the slow attacks, the fact you come to a complete stop with every attack, the frustrating levels. You could feel how rushed the second half is. I could’ve forgiven all of that if the life system didn’t suck like hell. I did enjoy the story telling of the first half. I also liked the nightmare sections, and the fact that Kaiya tried to get rid of Mr. Hopp by throwing him away. Because that’s what any normal person would do. The only thought I felt when getting both endings was: “I hope the fifth game is better”. I am a huge fan of the original games (2 and 3 being one of my favourite horror games of all time). So I can’t help but feel a little let down by this game •_•. However, I do feel like it’s common for fourth games in any franchise to be the worst *cough* *cough* SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 4.

...I'm sad. this game is terrible. I love every damn Hopp game but this.... This is rushed and aweful... I'm going to go play Mr.Hopp's Playhouse 3 now... :(

Mr. Hopp's Playhouse: The Toybox continues the franchise in an interesting way. This series basically wrapped up in Mr. Hopp's Playhouse 3, ending in a very nice way. Although Mr. Hopp's Playhouse: The Toybox finds a way to continue the story, and does it in a mediocre fashion. There isn't much explanation as to why Mr. Hopp returns or some other characters as they kind of just appear out of nowhere. However, if that fault is ignored, Mr. Hopp's Playhouse: The Toybox is one of the best instalments in the franchise. The first half of the game has some of the best scares in the series, and explores some extremely disturbing themes and moments never before seen in a Mr. Hopp's game. The main character of this game has quite a tragic backstory that intrigues players, and the other characters are also developed quite well. Each chapter keeps improving on the horror and even introduces a new character to the series, Mr. Ruffle. The chase scenes are done quite well and create great tension. However, the game shifts substantially in the second half during the toy box section, which some players will either LOVE or HATE, there is no in-between. This was a very creative and outside the box game, but it had a very uninteresting story. The ending felt too happy and the reveal of the entity at the end was too forced. The stories of the first two games were meticulously, and smartly put together, but this one just didn't hit the mark. The whole thing felt rushed. I felt that the nightmare sequences at the beginning were very cool and atmospheric though. These developers still had it, but I think the mistake they made with this one was trying to make it too many things at once. I want a sequel though. I wanna see where the story goes next, but I think they should go simple, intimate and demonic again in the next one. The first two games felt like that. I would recommend this though. Don't expect an amazing experience and you'll enjoy the heck out of it like I did, honestly.

SO FUN!, I loved the first and 2nd but this was so good. But its super hard! RECAMENDED.
