Mutant Meltdown is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as if it was a real PC game (it's not)... it's a cash grab from greedy mobile devs. This mobile app is a reskin of the developers other games... basically a simple form of asset flipping, take the same game, change the assets, then you can sell the game all over again. This obviously has no value for gamers, but unethical developers don't really care about gamers, they just want money. The've done this almost a dozen times... a dozen hex based mobile app "strategy" games all alike, but with different skins on them. Obviously my review for this is going to look a lot like my reviews for all the other "Flips" of this exact same game. There's only so many ways you can warn gamers about the same problems. And so you can see I'm not making this up, here's a list of all the copy + pastes of this app I've found so far:

Commander Bug Wars
Commander: Modern War
Commander: World War II
Commander: Zombie Wars
Expect the Unexpected
Interstellar Conquest
Lorhaven: Cursed War
Mutant Meltdown
Paths & Danger
Z Dawn
These are all reskins and reshuffles of [i]exactly the same m…

It's mid at most. I liked Z Dawn way better, game needs more UI fixes and Quality of Life changes to be more fun. First of all: -Rework of repairing and crafting, the scroll mouse button does work, but zooms the background and barely moves the repair menu, I'd appreciate a button like "repair all" even if the price would be steep, or at least let us field select them with mouse. -Scavenging seems slower than Z Dawn, I don't know why, but It seemed more tedious, especially scavenging gas stations for canned food. -Some odd bugs and glitches like being unable to shoot, move and have to reload game, being unable to equip upgraded weapon because it's tooltip was flashing so rapidly (like seizure warning) you wouldn't be able to click on it with either mouse button (it only happened to assault rifles so far). My 4 h spent into this title was enough to finish the game so it's not that bad honestly for the money it's worth. Still if you are searching for cool turn-based combat survival game go for Z Dawn 100% and if you enjoy that title you can try this one.

i wanted like this game because the dev made an intriguing gameplay with a previous game, Z Dawn. Mutant Meltdown has many gameplay elements shared with ZD, probably too many, but ok. But MM adds some gameplay layout rather well done, mainly around radiation rains, mutations, ability to build many camps, some more. Alas, it feels like an unfinished game: - It has many bugs and I'm used to not see them, I never ever have seen that. If it was tagged Early Access ok, but it isn't. I didn't quote any clearly being game breaking bugs, but it makes obvious that it's an half baked unfinished game. - I beat the game at all difficulty levels, but clearly they are approximately tuned. - The gameplay lacks of progression design. It was already stripped down too much in Z Down, but it's even further in Mutant Meltdown. - The scavenging is too basic and even simplified compared to Z Dawn. Z Dawn has an event system during scavenging tempering the linearity to click and click to scavenge, it wasn't a really good gameplay element, but in MM it is just removed for worse instead of being improved. - Translations are shown in shop page but, at least with French, it's more half baked stuff, looking …

A wonderful little game, a melding of Battle Brothers and UFO Aftermath, producing an enjoyable but not overly hard game. If you like turn based tactical base building games try it.
