A fun, comical, point-and-click adventure with charming cartoon-style graphics. The story takes place in a quiet forest called "Deep Woods," where Blackjack, the last surviving black rabbit, lives. Unfortunately, the forest's inhabitants are forced to live under the authoritarian regime of the Lion King. But Blackjack has a special help: he secretly grows energizing black carrots for a small group of rebels who oppose the Lion King. One morning, he discovers that all the carrots have been stolen. Who was it? While his friend Turt has disappeared, he decides to venture into the forest in search of the carrots. [b]Base Game - 9/10[/b] High quality game with a comics book art style including traditional comics word bubbles for dialogs. Authentic soundtrack blends perfectly with speech simulation sound which creates some kind of a retro feeling. In my opinion, this is a perfect alternative for voice acting. The game is good for beginners, but might be too easy for experienced players. Puzzles are straightforward and the game is full of clues that are actually hints. What I mean is that naturally exploring the area and talking to NPCs often makes it way to easy to solve puzzles. Most of the objects in the game are not allowed to be picked unless you discover that you really need them - you can only examine them. Most likely the intention is to let the players discover the 'key' only after they discover the 'door'. But for me it felt like you see the 'key', it is fully reachable, but you can't get it because you haven't found the 'door' yet. I think for point & click adventure games the common strategy is to grab everything that is pickable even though you don't know if you need it or not - you'll figure it out later. Carrots, kung-fu, and a forest with secrets I went in expecting silly, and got something a lot smarter than that. Mutants Ate My Carrots is a proper point-and-click adventure in the classic mold — you play a grumpy black rabbit whose carrot stash gets stolen, and what starts as a petty revenge quest spirals into something genuinely darker and more interesting than the title suggests. Every screen looks like a panel pulled from a slightly twisted children's book — soft fairy-tale forests with something rotten creeping in at the edges. The animation has that lovingly-drawn-frame-by-frame quality you don't see much anymore, and it makes the world feel handmade in a way that no asset-flip shortcut could fake. The humor is sharp without being smug, and it knows exactly when to pull back and let the suspense breathe. The dual inventory is a clever touch — collecting skills alongside items gave the puzzles a little extra texture, and I never hit a wall that felt unfair. ~6 hours, finished in two sittings.

A delightful adventure that evokes 90s nostalgia. It strongly reminded me of the classic Sierra titles. The hand drawn visuals are beautiful, creating a very distinct world that feels much like a comic book. With its vibrant colors and quirky characters, it builds a unique atmosphere unlike anything I’ve encountered in the genre before. At its core, it is a point-and-click adventure that is a pleasure to play at any time of day. However, beyond the traditional puzzles and character dialogues, there is a very unique combat system, something I’ve never seen integrated into this type of game before. It is used within the context of the puzzles and never feels like an "action" game. it provides just enough variety to add an extra layer to the gameplay. This is a very impressive effort from a small development team. It is definitely worth your time if you have even a slight love for adventure games.

I don't know why it took me so long to play Mutants Ate My Carrots, developed by Animatic Vision and published by Dionous Games. I think it was the combat element that held me back. Action-adventures are more of a console thing to me. But frankly, I needn't have worried because this game is pure point 'n click, freaking hilarious and the combat is just a variation of an inventory puzzle! I'm Blackjack, last one of the legendary Black Rabbits. There's a whole intro cinematic explaining my origins, so I won't go into it here. Most important part is that I cultivate black carrots which gives me extra strength. Think of that flower in the Black Panther movie... But one morning, I wake up and find someone stole all my carrots! A quest ensues! Searching the forest I meet several other animals, but as is typical for adventure games, they all want something in return before they will help me out. These interaction show what a wacky cartoon this game actually is. The dialogue is funny as well, and Blackjack is a perfect, grumpy protagonist, a veteran who has seen it all and just does what needs to be done.
