About Myrmica

The year is 2058. In a dystopic future where the USA leads as the de facto only world power, play as Liv: An agent of the S.I.N (Supernatural Investigations Network). You will be sent to an oil station in the middle of the Pacific, stuck in 1982. Your mission? Discover what’s causing problems in the system so the station can continue working without being noticed. But this place is full of secrets and Liv is just a cog in the machine.Explore a petrol station (Complex B13B) full of secrets and mysteries. The environment and the people who live in it will react to your actions and the events happening at the station. Rooms, lights, dialogues, and so much more will change... with time.  Explore and test the possibilities of the time loop while making your way to uncover the truth.Meet Frank, Alice, Needle, Kira, and The Archivist. Learn their stories, secrets, and motivations. Everyone has a key role in Complex B13B and yours will be to find it. With a sprawling dialogue system that’ll let you confront them as you please. Good cop or bad cop? And more important. What would you do when you discover their stories? The T.M.R (Time Manipulation Recorder) is the main tool of Myrmica. With it, you can investigate and manipulate the characters and the world around you. Thanks to the T.M.R, you can create your own solutions and situations, use their routines to your advantage, and explore the way to solve the mysteries the station holds. This game is a university project by students at U-tad. The masters involved are design, art, programming, modeling, concept, animation, rigging, and production from U-tad and the master's degree in musical creation and production from Loyola University.

It is made with heart, feelings (much more than expected) and time loops! Lots of my favourite topics mixed into a game. Don't be discouraged by the occasional bugs, it's a good experience. Hope to see a sequel.

If you are curious about its title, MYRMICA, here is what one of the developers kindly shared: " [...] one of my teammates stumbled upon "Myrmica" while searching time-manipulation-related topics. It seems like these kinds of ants were one of the first to be the subject of time manipulation experiments. Also, one of the themes of Myrmica is workers and their inability to stop being a cog in the machine, so the ant theme fits it like a glove. There are some smaller reasons here and there, for example, some species of myrmicas invade other ant's nests, manipulate their behavior, and from that manipulation destroy the nests from the inside [...] Isn't it just BRILLIANT? I just wanted to put It up here for anyone interested. Let's go on with the review now: Double thumbs up for this ambitious game! Please don't discount it because it's free to play and a university project: it's a game through and through with an insane potential and a generous length - it took me over 7 hours to beat. Despite the familiar setting on an oil rig, whose anxiety-inducing atmosphere never fails to creep out, and the time loop mechanics a la Outer Wilds, Myrmica feels new, fresh a…

This is a really creative narrative scifi puzzle game and I'm surprised it hasn't gotten more attention. It feels a bit proof-of-concept as I think the time manipulation mechanics that aren't used to their full extent, but there's a real gem of an idea in this short (free!) game that I had a lot of fun with. The writing is also pretty decent.

A really weird and unique game. Its mostly just reading, but its still pretty cool. The world and the characters are really well made and the mechanics really unique. It was, and i mean this in the best way possible, not really fun to play rather then pushing forward to see how it all unfolds. This doenst mean this game is a wast of time, its just something to indulge in a strange world and uncover a mysteries story. And its free so at least one reason to give it a good look, I can recommend it

As a developer, I couldn't be more proud of the piece of media this team has created. It's intimate, it's fresh and it's not afraid to talk about the developer's thoughts and feelings. Feeling good for the next game ;)
