What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Players praise the game's core concept of traveling through nightmare simulations, but are overwhelmed by numerous technical and quality issues that severely hamper the experience. Common complaints include frequent bugs that block progression, rampant typos throughout dialogue, poor UI design, sluggish walking speed, and poor optimization even on high-end hardware, alongside unclear puzzle objectives that leave players fumbling in confusion. While some see potential in the underlying idea, the game feels unpolished and unfinished in its current state.

22GB of sloppy abandonware. From what I gather, you're supposed to travel between various nightmare simulations. I wasn't able to get passed the initial section and start the first simulation. You need some access card that I wasn't given and couldn't find. Either way, what I saw in the first 10 minutes of playing didn't really make me want to continue. The dialog is full of typos - I'm talking several per line. And not just some misspellings, but stuff like no spaces between words where it makes it obvious no effort went into it. The robot guards use very obvious text-to-speech. Speaking of NPCs, the majority just standing around not moving in a posed position. There are numerous other unpolished or poorly designed aspects - like the main menu being horrendous or the gun in your hand being unfocused. This game is in need of a ton of polish that it will never get. Avoid.1 found this helpful
This looks quite good, however it suffers from many basic issues, like: - can't change options during game - options do not have proper UI (there is no background or outlines that would make text and sliders visible) - audio can cut off if you are too fast - many typos - utterly slow walking - cursor going out of the window (on multimonitor setup) - causing game to lose focus...
Before I played NightMaresToBe, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
Remarkably unoptimized, getting <60fps with an RTX 3080. Maybe they'll fix it by release… whenever that is.
i have attempted to play this 3 times and keep getting stuck due to bugs. the first time i accidentally started a new game instead of continuing (if there even was a continue option and leaving the game isnt permadeath), the second time i couldnt get the chess piece to place on the table even though it was the right piece and the third time a door refused to open even though i had gotten past that part before and done everything exactly the same. it also doesnt really explain what you are doing that well so there is a LOT of just fumbling around and trying to figure out what the puzzle is, solving it is the easy part :(
