On Key Up: A Game for Keyboards

Post Full version Update : It's still great even for 8 dollars. Buy the game. It's a great little indie game not a lot of people know about, and it's pretty fun. Challenging at times, but still fun. Wish more people knew about this. Early Access review : For 1 buck, it ain't bad. Fun in fact. Runs well, still getting updates. Just a good cheap game. 10/10.

Fantastic little Indie game, some levels can be quite challenging, but as of 17/12/2020 you can complete this game in way under an hour. Great way to pass some time with a great level design with fun and fulfilling objectives. I'd personally recommend this to anyone looking to pass a bit of time while having a nice chill experience in the meantime. With updates to come in the future this game is certainly one to look out for.

So now that the game has received all 24 levels and i went and redid the old ones(since they were all reset showing 1h in-game records but i had also wanted to try them all again anyways...) as well as did the six new ones from the latest update, and have 100%'d the achievements like... is this my 3rd time now? At least second. Glad i won't have to do this ever again, enough Vietnam flashbacks gained by now. ;3 After all of this(and according to steam this new session of mine took about 3,7 hours, i know i most certainly haven't played twice during the past 2 weeks :P)... i think it's appropriate that i finally give this game a small review. So what will you find inside this game... as i said in the beginning, 24 levels. Some of them will be fun and easy enough, some can be pretty challenging, and some will likely get on your nerves and make you want to call the game a "kusoge" even though it's clear the dev has put effort into making this game a good game. Certainly, the idea is really genius! As you press keys on your keyboard, the same keys will raise like high blocks on the virtual keyboard on the screen. Using these blocks your task is to do stuff like push balls or cubes to…

So, this game was kind of fun, but really only for a little bit. I enjoyed it for the first maybe 20 minutes, and then beat the game shortly after. It's pretty short and simple, but what else would you expect for 2 or 3 bucks. Some levels are difficult, and result in disappointment when reaching completion. I wouldn't quite recommend purchasing this game.

I always applaud games made for practicing 10 finger typing & also ways to control things in this way (starting and going beyond using hotkeys in menus). The touch with physics and different objects is also nice and inventive. If you write with 10 fingers or learning to, for €3 or less this game is fine. The option to block the "suns" was nice, but it kind of encouraged usage of 3+ keys - the same for rings - sometimes it was best to press 3+ keys in vicinity ...which goes a bit against the way how you should write with 10 fingers. It would be nice to have more levels & develop more the 3d-world ideas (maybe not necessarily with the keyboard in one piece). Bug: the ring once fell through the keys into place beyond (or below) my control.
