I usually give lax reviews about indie games because I understand its a difficult undertaking for a solo developer but even still I have a lot of issues with this title that I cannot deny. I enjoyed this game for the first 3 levels and I must say I was impressed with the atmosphere and tone of the game, plus I can feel a lot of work went in the weapons and gameplay department too, no complaints there. My initial verdict was positive too. But then it started to go downhill, first of all why the hell is this game so unoptimized and laggy? Why do I lag even more on every respawn? Then there is the issue of loss of my save file, I was on level 3 and had almost cleared like 75% of it only to come back the next day and was unable to continue from that point forward. I even tried restarting the level but I lost all of my weapons, ammo and credits too? Seriously what the hell was that? I really really wanted to like this game and even recommend this but come on.. these are glaring issues and the fact the game has launched in this state is sad. I saw a lot of potential in this but I'm disappointed.

Do you like old school "boomer" shooters? Do you like DOOM? Do you like horror games? If yes, then just buy the game! For $1 (or even less when on sale) you really can't go wrong buying this game! There is more passion here in this little game than in many "AAA" "Live Service" games!

Operator8 is the kind of indie project that immediately establishes a clear thematic identity—clinical, technological, and human in a way that reflects modern anxieties about automation, data control, and corporate silence. Developed and published by Aligned Games, it casts the player as a remote operator working inside a sterile, corporatized system where tasks feel mechanical on the surface but gradually reveal deeper implications. The game uses its premise to build tension without relying on horror devices, instead letting repetition, precision, and structural ambiguity generate unease. It’s not a loud or overly theatrical experience—its power comes from restraint, pacing, minimalism, and the feeling that every action, however small, has consequences beyond what the interface shows. Gameplay revolves around structured tasks—monitoring, analyzing, inputting commands, activating systems, routing signals, and troubleshooting procedural challenges. At first, these activities seem like simple workplace simulations, but Operator8 slowly layers additional complexity, forcing the player to juggle multiple objectives, react to unexpected errors, and solve logical problems under pressure…

Decent game, fun overall, but there are quite a lot of bugs. Especially the invincible creatures that follow you permanently. It gets pretty annoying ngl.

Terrible save system ruins this otherwise average shooter. The levels are large and you only have a few pods scattered around that cost $400 to activate a "save". This game has randomly crashed on me near the end of two levels and when I reload the game, the save file is gone and you have to start the level all over again. Absolute garbage!

Wouldn't recommend for anyone with a low end laptop or pc, game crashed three times before I eventually was able to play, granted it was extremely laggy with low framerates and the first three enemies just running in place, after turning my settings down to the lowest to try and fix it, the game crashed again and I can't be asked to try again.
