Abandonware wearing a monetization scheme as a skin, that's the honest way to describe Overlewd at this point. Let's start with what's actually broken. Runtime exceptions hit constantly, even the devs' own suggested fixes don't clear them for a lot of players, and the game has apparently sat that way for months with no real patch to show for it. Server connection issues are a recurring theme too, matches and progress grind to a halt while you wait on their backend just to log a basic interaction. This isn't a live service game running smoothly, it's a project on autopilot with a store front still bolted on. And that store front is the real problem. Heavy time gating, stamina systems that cap how much you can actually play per session, and gacha rates that players consistently call some of the worst in the genre with no pity system or guarantee. Prices are wildly inflated too, plenty of reviewers point out the packs cost several times what similar content goes for elsewhere, like someone accidentally added an extra zero to every price tag. If you asked me a couple months ago, I'd have said this is a decently good horni game, but the current state is it's been abandoned by the developer, the August event started broken and there hasn't even been any word from them to acknowledge this or even attempt to fix it, and the event ends next week,

After spending 6000 hours on this game, I realized that I love this game. I think it's a great background game with simple gameplay, which in my opinion just makes it so you can do productive stuff on your PC while also investing time in a game since you have to wait for the energy to be restored. Also the art style is really good and I enjoy how many different teams you can make since you can prioritize whatever stat you want. Since the game isn't PvP, you are not forced to spend money to become stronger and beat other people. So in itself, the game gives you shortcuts by buying resources to max out a team faster, but it can definitely be achieved by not spending any money in the game (I have only bought the 1$ DLC and never spent any money into microtransactions). On the negative side though I have to say that the events are really repetitive and there are rarely any new ones, the game usually has a lot of glitches tied to events, they sometimes don't release any new scenes on old events and they personally don't listen to the community a lot.
