About Perso
Perso is an atmospheric puzzle game. Collecting relics within each level will slowly reveal what and where you are. You will be in control of at least five cubes, each with different abilities. Use them all to find your way.
You will need to approach each level in different ways to solve the puzzle. Changing your direction will change the layout of the world, opening up pathways or letting you fall. Take control and use all of your abilities to find new ways of staying alive. Collecting the relics in each level is your goal. These relics will ultimately lead you to a decision.
Perso is a 3D puzzler where you have to navigate your cube(s) around platforms suspended in space without falling off the edge.
The goal is to navigate your white (primary) cube around the platforms and collect/deliver "relics" along the way. The platforms appear and disappear depending on the position of your cube and the rotation of the puzzle. You can be sitting in the same spot but rotate the puzzle and more/less platform is revealed. You also have to contend with multiple vertical 'floors' with beacons to bump you to upper levels, so there's a lot to think about even before you start picking up the 4 coloured helper-cubes which each have special powers. Keyboard controls only, and there are several keys to get to grips with: move; rotate; toggle cubes on/off; switch cubes. You can also press E to show a larger area of the puzzle, which doesn't really help to solve the section you're working on, but it is a nice aesthetic that shows the overall beauty of the puzzle.
Sound & Vision
First of all, I have to say I love the beautiful, swirling plasma clouds waiting below to swallow you up when you fall. These do seem to weigh heavy on my GPU though, it certainl…17 found this helpful
I really liked this, definitely recommend it if you are at all interested in puzzle games. It's very smooth (with a great art style), it oozes mystery and intrigue – and of course clever puzzles. Pros - A clever system of puzzle-solving involving 5 blocks with unique abilities, such as teleporting or moving across immaterial platforms - Great art style with lots of polish - A set of controls, individually quite simple, which combine to be very challenging – forcing you to really think about each move you make Cons - There are a few bugs in version 1.0, such as occasionally loosing control of the characters (the blocks) and checkpoints seemingly activating before they're supposed to. Restarting usually solves this. Check out some gameplay here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nraCEmsG53M6 found this helpful
I genuinely hate to be the one to do this, but this needs to be done. I posted a thread here in the specially marked "Bugs" subforum. The developer has not done anything since (where did they go???). (Still) no rebindable controls and broken achievements, even after nearly 2 years. There's also no way to start a new game (I understand hiding level select screens, but what if I wanna start over without deleting my old save file behind-the-scenes?). That said, if you think you'll have better luck beside these issues, you're in for a real treat, for the atmosphere, music, visuals, and puzzle design are all splendid. Yet for now, I cannot recommend this game until at least the achievements bug is fixed. Should the developer(s) take note, I welcome any noteworthy responses, either to this review or in the game's discussion forums!3 found this helpful
