Pipe Escape

Good gaming, beat it in one shot, was locked in like nothin else, would recommend if you're looking for a 45min - 1 hour sort of vibe

"Pipe Escape" is a poorly made and unsuccessful action game, you navigate 2D mazes (made of pipes) controlling a spanner. The gimmick (which has been done before, by much better games) is that the spanner constantly spins, so you need to use careful timing to avoid hitting any pipes. Pipes are metal. Spanners are metal. A light tap isn't going to hurt. The whole premise of the game is a failure. This comes across as something unambitious and "simple" in terms of implementation and technical quality and depth, more like a game dev tutorial or an experiment. It’s a classic case of a developer prioritizing the low effort needed to get a game listed on Steam over the actual delivery of a technically sound or compelling product. Whatever is needed to hammer out something "good" enough for Steam Direct self-publishing. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. Didn't much like it, but it does exactly what it claims to be and nothing more. Intentionally frustrating, decent in how it builds upon previous challenges -- I acknowledge its strengths while not wanting anything to do with it.

A game that reminds me of Roundabout, but a very short arcade kind of experience instead of an open world GTA style experience. Neat! Dev updated it so I can use arrow keys to move. Sorry I didn't notice for over 6 months, mr dev! Review changed to positive.
