About Pixel Galaxy

GROW. MAKE FRIENDS. SURVIVE TOGETHER.

In this non-shooting shoot 'em up, you are a single white pixel who can absorb the bodies, abilities, and weapons of every enemy pixel you collect. It's up to you to stay either a small and nimble ship, or turn large and powerful. Just remember: protect your core white pixel, because every mistake could be your last.

INFINITE POSSIBILITIES

Every single enemy wave is randomized, and your size and power changes for every pixel you collect and destroy. There's never one strategy that works for very long, because every playthrough is an entirely new experience.

SIX DIFFICULTY MODES, UNFORGETTABLE BOSSES, and CO-OP

Each difficulty has new enemies, weapons, and bosses! Change your strategies and push your limits in each mode. See how you match up against friends and other players in the online leaderboards.

Two pixels are better than one. In local co-op mode, you and a friend can both collect enemy pixels independently. When one of you dies, the other can revive you simply by touching your pixel.

For an unforgettable challenge, Boss Rush mode will bombard you with all the bosses you've encountered throughout the game. How many can you survive?

Novel and fun concept. It's minimalist and you might even call it an anti shoot 'em up. The enemy ships or pixels become part of your own ship if you touch them while you avoid their bullets. The more enemy pixels join you, the more bullets they shoot, but you cannot really aim them even though you can rotate in 90 degree turns. Your ship constantly changes shape. There's always the risk-reward factor at work, and it's part of the appeal. Levels are very short and randomized with different difficulty levels, around 2 minutes if you survive till the end, so this feels quite replayable. Lovely chiptune music. Unfortunately, there is no Vsync (vertical synchronization) and it cannot be forced through the Nvidia control panel. This means the game will have frame rates in the hundreds if not thousands potentially causing overheating. Despite that, the speed of the game seemed fine. If this is ever fixed, this will become a recommendation.

Pixel Galaxy is an inventive indie action game from Serenity Forge that combines elements of classic space shooters with survival mechanics and roguelike progression. While its visuals initially suggest a simple retro-inspired arcade experience, the game quickly reveals a surprisingly creative gameplay loop centered around growth, adaptation, and experimentation. Instead of piloting a traditional spaceship, players begin as a single pixel drifting through space, gradually transforming into a powerful and highly customized structure by absorbing defeated enemies. The game's most distinctive feature is its growth mechanic. Every enemy encountered can become part of the player's expanding formation after being collected. Rather than earning upgrades through menus or skill trees, improvements are physically attached to the player's structure. Weapons, defensive components, and special abilities are integrated directly into the growing mass of pixels, creating a unique sense of progression. Watching a tiny, vulnerable pixel evolve into a sprawling war machine is consistently satisfying and gives each play session a strong feeling of development. This system introduces meaningful strat…

I played it and it worked fine the first time around. Now it is permanently stuck on zero unlocks. I have tried unininstalling the files in Appdata and in the game's Steam directory and it still won't work. Even the worst indies manage to get LETTING ME PLAY THE F-ING GAME RIGHT. CORRUPT SAVE GAME WARNING! THE PROGRESS WILL BE RESET TO ZERO. CANNOT PROGRESS BEYOND TUTORIAL! A KNOWN BUG. "What is the most important aspect of any f-ing game? Well being f-ing able to play it." -AVGN, Atari 5200 To be fair, I did not pay many cents for the game. It is not worth a single cent if it does not play.

Tough-as-nails bullet hell that is good fun to play while bobbing to the soundtrack.
