a hidden gem, as they say, hiding deep under the surface, unfortunately. I was looking for stuff similar to [url=https://steamcommunity.com/id/dohi64/recommended/298400]knightmare tower[/url] one day and this is kinda like that but in the opposite direction. come to think of it, probably closer to downwell from the same year, which I haven't played. the goal is to go deeper and deeper in various biomes on various planets, while avoiding obstacles, hazards, enemies and dying altogether, though killing baddies is one way to refill health. there's a story told through comic strips and dialog, bosses to kill, a separate arcade mode, and upgrades, cosmetics, level skips and more music to buy. I'm not good at twitchy arcade stuff but can enjoy them until I reach the very low ceiling of my skills and managed to complete all 75 story missions here. not all gold, of course. good stuff.

If you do get this game, I recommend turning off visual effects to get rid of the ugly CRT effect lines all over the screen. I'm unsure why they were included, since the art wasn't designed like old street fighter games or anything that'd benefit from the sub-pixel effect, it just makes everything a little browner and uglier. Gripes: The art on the store page / trailer is very good, but the actual story frames in the levels are comparatively ugly. That was disappointing. The screen is only 5 'tiles' wide, and yet it just feels sluggish to get from one side of the screen to the other... Or at least, like it's a lot of 'work' Whereas Downwell uses continuous movement that would surely be wider than 5 tiles, but it feels so snappy and responsive... Hmm, I'm really unsure why Downwell feels so much better to just play and move around in... So, I recommend this game just to contrast to Downwell as a game design study, but not really otherwise.

Feels like it could be a mobile game, not in a bad way. Super simple game-play and a minimal story, if one at all. I'd describe it as a game you can play during class, which is why I would compare it to a mobile game. The story missions are easy but get repetitive. The only aspect of this game that truly gets annoying is the banter between the diver and her robot ball. The real fun is doing the arcade mode. Definitely a good game to grab if you happen to have an awkward amount of money in your steam wallet or small pockets of free time in your day.

You gotta mash the buttons to get anywhere and the controls on my xbox controller are messed up. Upgrades are mostly meaningless beside the speed one and the movement is super jittery and makes me nauseous. Heck the frame rate is all over the place which is fascinating. The arcade mode is better but just because you're not restricted to crappy missions. I got this game for free from a random cardboard card. I honestly wish I never redeemed it.

personaly im gonna be honest with you this game has pros and cons pros 1.game is fun 2.music is good 3. the story is good 4. npc are fun and hard to beat cons 1.some of the phyics in this game are so weird 2. in some levels where the objective is not to get damaged by anything the game will automaticly damage me like no joke im diving and nothing touched me but i took damage out of nowhere like nowhere there was nothing near me to take damage from 3.the game doesnt give you alot of info on how to kill the bosses it just kinda lets you try to figure it out really though in honesty the pros out beat the cons the game is worth its price i'm just pointing out on some of its cons which are weird but easy to deal with
