Poolscape

Poolscape is a surreal "Pools" themed walking simulator with PS1 era graphics. Your character starts off at a main hub pool area surrounded by 8 different colored slides, and each slide takes you to a mazelike pools themed / backrooms type level. The goal in each level is to explore the environment and find the exit. There are no enemies in this game that chase you or that can harm you. However, there is one entity that pops up once in awhile to creep you out. The game takes around 2.5 hours to complete all 8 levels. + The level designs are generally well made and fun to explore. + Each level has its own theme. Nice variety of environments. + The soundscapes, sound effects, and music, are all very surreal, original, and perfectly placed. + The game can be run on a potato computer in super low resolution, or on a high end computer with extra crispy graphics. + The exit signs above the doors throughout the levels were a huge help. + Low price. +/- There are many notes to find throughout the game, but in the end I was hoping for even more lore. - A few levels are a bit too linear. - More slides would have been fun in the levels. You get exactly what the game advertises. Fun game…

I am a fan of Walking Simulators in general, and I'm beginning to really enjoy the Backrooms/Poolrooms/Liminal Space sub genre. I've never played a PlayStation game so the visuals in [b]Poolscape[/b] were a little underwhelming at first. I'm glad that I persevered. I quickly got used to the graphics and walking speed and I was off to the [strike]races[/strike] swimming pools. The biggest treat for me was the variety of environments to explore. At maybe 30 minutes per level, I could easily finish one and move on with my day. Every time I returned there was somewhere new to explore. I didn't find any of the levels especially creepy and the Entity was too cute to be threatening. The only downside for me was the "light platforming sections." I'm old and my hand-eye coordination isn't the greatest. There were only about half-a-dozen jumping sections throughout the game, and only one caused me grief. It meant that I didn't get to play the Megastructure level. Still, no regrets. I'll probably return to that level and try to beat it from time to time. Recommended!

Poolscape est dans un style (voulu) très 90's donc pixélisé. C'est très court à faire et il ne fait pas peur. Je pense qu'il mériterait plus de chemins / passages et un succès pour les lettres retrouvées. Il est probable qu'il y ait quelques endroits un peu frustrants pour les personnes qui s'attendent uniquement à de la marche car il y a des endroits où il faut sauter et si on rate la plateforme on recommence du début du passage (on ne peut pas mourir). J'y suis retournée pour avoir tous les succès !
