"Primal Reign" is a badly made VR tech demo with an Egyptian dinosaur, so let's just bash genres together until a decent idea crops up. Wait, didn't Serious Sam do that already? Yeah, they did. Wow, so this is a Serious Sam knockoff, only worse in all respects. What do you do in the game? Wave your arms around in VR to shoot/stab dinosaurs. The developer couldn't work out locomotion in VR properly so you teleport around jankily enough to make you throw up. VR exclusivity is typically the refuge of the lazy dev, those who believe slapping VR compatibility on something immediately removes all other requirements for quality... and this isn't to say you can't make a good VR game, take a look at Half-Life: Alyx, but like I said, most of the time VR exclusivity is a lot like Epic exclusivity... publish it in a way nobody will see it because you know you have a bad product, right? The game is really simple and unambitious in terms of implementation, more of a tech demo or one of those cases where an amateur developer spends $100 to publish something on Steam Direct to see if it's possible. Идея скрещивания различных видов динозавров и использования их в качестве юнитов выглядит свежо и интересно. Графика, конечно, не поражает воображение, но стиль приятный, а модели динозавров вполне детализированы. Геймплей предлагает классическую формулу строительства базы, сбора ресурсов и наращивания армии. Однако, механика мутации динозавров добавляет тактической глубины, позволяя создавать уникальные комбинации юнитов с различными способностями. Кампания интересная, хоть и немного предсказуемая, но предоставляет достаточное количество вызовов. Из минусов стоит отметить не самую лучшую оптимизацию, иногда встречаются просадки FPS даже на достаточно мощных системах. Также баланс может быть немного несбалансированным, некоторые юниты оказываются слишком сильными, а другие - малоэффективными. В целом, Primal Reign – это игра с большим потенциалом. Если разработчики продолжат работать над оптимизацией и балансом, а также добавят больше контента, то она вполне может стать достойным представителем жанра RTS.
