Prism of You

Prism of You is an interesting, relaxing game with an incredible art style and fun take on familiar mechanics that occasionally feels a bit underdeveloped. Pros: Incredible art style. The skybox, animation, and emotion models go really well together to make the dreamy atmosphere really come through. I especially loved the sadness line! -Music & sound is also great. Little noises are very fun, and I was able to get the hang of the different sounds pretty quickly, and the music gave enough vibey atmosphere to fit the mood, but it didn't get distracting. -I think the main idea here is fun and cute, and I enjoyed the conceptualization of the different emotions as little monsters. The way they move and the way they sounds also did a good job of accurately portraying the emotions. Cons: -The lore cards didn't work for me. It felt tacked on, and I thought the game didn't need a backstory to grasp the concept. I thought the art for the cards was neat, but I'm not really sure what they were ultimately going towards. -I had a somewhat difficult time actually controlling the game. I often times failed to grab the emotion or cloud that I wanted in a way that could be frustrating. …

Genuinely adorable game! Gotta say, the artstyle is SICK, I love the style of the main menu, and the background surrounding the island. The emotions are really well designed, and I especially love "Ecstasy". I think the happy emotions were my favorite, just because of their cute and funny sounds! Annoyance was also pretty adorable, I love how the sound is just a little grumble. Sadness was VERY identifiable, and the sound effects fit perfectly imo. It was pretty fun trying to guess which sounds related to which emotions, and there's something really fun about feeding the manifestation of an emotion energy and watching it become enormous xD All in all, SUPER gorgeous, and a fun time! Would recommend checking it out.

The most common type of Emoe I encountered were Anger ones, which is coincidentally the emotion I felt most often when playing this. A unique game concept I was excited to try, and the design of the creatures is super creative, but I hated the controls. Trying to pick up an Emoe is a nightmare, I keep struggling to click on one, and of course they then die because I didn't focus on them. Which leads to underpopulation, which leads to my screen becoming grey and pixelated, which means I don't see them well enough, which means I can't tell when they're fading and I struggle even more to interact with them, which means they die. Also, the actions I'm placing: other than the thinking one (which worked for me perfectly fine,) I struggle to use them. Did I place them wrong? Did I place them right but they're just not doing anything? Is the Emoe out of range and that's why it's not working? Did the area of effect fade out immediately? Did it work and I just can't tell? I have no idea. Another review says I'm supposed to place it on an even surface. The vast majority of the map is uneven surface. I feel like the emotional charge mechanic wasn't well-explained either. This game has potent…

The art is beautiful, and it is refreshing to see something different. However, despite checking the tutorials a good few times, I cannot figure out what one is supposed to do. I will be keeping an eye on it at least if for no other reason than the visuals alone. ETA: It seems though my first playthrough file was bugged and I was unable to create Charge or grow the Emoes. This new file is letting me do more, but now I am running into what I believe is another bug. It's still quite fun, albeit confusing. I am enjoying it. :)

A unique artstyle combined with FANTASTIC sound design makes this a more than worthy use of an hour. The game is quite short, but the gameplay is very memorable. Managing the monstrous little emoes is quite enjoyable, especially when you haven't discovered them all. There is some unpredictability that is less fun - the Actions are often quite difficult to perform on uneven ground, which is rough cause sometimes you REALLY need them. That said, the player is not especially punished for sliding too far into the 'red' on either Emoes (the little monsters) or Charge (how powerful the emoes are). Clearly this project was a labor of love. A totally unqiue experience. Thank you for making this game!!
