PulseCharge is a compact but ambitious action-platformer that proudly embraces its indie identity. Developed and published by Frozenmerk Games, it takes a familiar genre—precision 2D platforming—and builds its entire personality around one distinctive mechanic: absorbing enemy attacks to generate energy, then using that stored power to move, attack, and overcome otherwise impossible obstacles. Rather than dodging projectiles, the player is encouraged to welcome them, transforming threat into momentum. This reversal of traditional platformer logic gives the game an immediate sense of experimentation, and it becomes clear early on that success isn’t based on flawless avoidance but on learning how to bend danger into opportunity. Great game! I really struggled through level 16, and the last boss (following level 17) was annoying, but this game was a lot of fun overall. As someone who grew up on games that often had busier graphics, these didn't bother me one bit once I figured out what was what. This was probably the most interesting platformer I've played in quite some time, so I highly recommend it. I'm adding it as game #163 to my unranked list of Steam favorites.

Graphics are like a psychedelic trip - not pleasant to look at. The core gameplay is an interesting premise but marred by jank controls and general lack of polish.
