Rain City

It looks nice but the actual game design is not so good. Some puzzles here are not obvious at all and take ridiculously long to try and fail. The final boss has FPS bug which is fixable but many will rage quit and uninstall before finding the solution. Interface is not 100% compatible with controller, I had to use mouse also. But I still think this game deserves some love. And an English guide, which hopefully I can do in due time.

The art was cute and the music was nice. The puzzles were fine, but I didn't enjoy the controls at all, it became a chore just moving around and investigating. The beeping noise from the speech was very annoying too, I hoped it could be set to lower volume but at least I wasn't able to find where to do that, if there was a way to do it. I don't know, this could've been a nicer experience if it wasn't because of the controls. It was so hard to get the character to stop where you wanted and the options only appeared in the exact right spot. It also felt slow. I'm disappointed, I had high hopes for it and I just ended wishing it finised already and not wanting to complete the achivements I didn't get on the first run.

This is a really great game. The puzzles are somewhat impossible to figure out at times, but it was still fun and enjoyable. 7.5/10

I really wanted to love Rain City. The mystery at the core of the story is intriguing, and you can tell the developers put a lot of heart into the visuals and atmosphere. Unfortunately, the experience is currently hampered by significant bugs. I encountered so many issues interacting with the various environments (moving boxes. etc.) which made it difficult to stay immersed. Additionally, the ending took a sharp turn into an arcade-style boss fight that felt disconnected from the slow-burn mystery established in the first two acts. And it was basically impossible to complete as there was no option to change the control binding. There were so many clumsy mechanics and counter-intuitive puzzles. Storywise, there were some plotholes that were perplexing. The introduction of a protagonist ally at the end whose motives and story are unclear adds to the confusion. I understand it is a small independent game and I was not looking for intense levels of character development. But there was just so much missing that it undermined the enjoyment, along with the technical issues. Again, I came in ready to enjoy it but no matter how I tried, I just couldn't. Cute graphics, puzzles far from mind twisting. On the criticism side: it's actually the worst movement point'n'click behavior I've ever met! Dialogs (in EN version) are a bit awkward, translation deficiencies throw in also a sentence in French. Nonetheless, the game is worth spending a few hours on it. :)
