About RED MAN FOLLOWS

✦ AI summary

RED MAN FOLLOWS has you venture into a dark world to hunt for red collectibles across multiple rooms while avoiding a sinister entity, with the twist that game overs reset your progress and found items alter how the game behaves. This atmospheric exploration game challenges you to uncover all secrets across two phases—the initial exploration and a return journey where the world subtly transforms based on what you've collected.

The 【 Happy Corp. 】 invites you to follow up on the story of one of the most ferocious abnormality: The Red Man.

In this game, you control a human who heads to the world's darkest place.

On this adventure you'll go through many rooms which you are free to explore at your own pace. There are two phases: the “going”, in which you can unlock red collectibles in each of the rooms; and the “return” which makes each room slightly change and so it's collectible.

These collectables change the behaviour of the game. It may be a good idea to try to collect them all !

As you explore, the progress on every collectible will be shown on the screen. BUT BEWARE !! Getting a game over will close the game and restart your progress!

Will you be able to overcome the darkness?

LOG:

The Red Man.
This abnormality is said to look like a giant humanoid wearing a red suit, have pale skin and no face. This creature seems to cause others to become violent when they're in pain, they can't control their actions once this happens. The only way to stop it would be to m̵̨̪̳͚͆͊͒͂̈ͅɒ̴̢̰͖̮̳̀͊͒̽̑ʞ̸̨͓̩̝̈́̏̈́̃̃͜ǝ̸̡̢͇̞͕̉́̀̎̚ ̵̰͎̮̟͈̒̀͗̋̚i̵̩͙̮̘̠͌͐̇̕͠Ɉ̶͙̦͓̫͖͐̾̈́͘͝ ̴̨̢̬͇̜͒͗̃͛͋ʇ̵̧̠̳̘͇͋͋̊̍̈ǝ̵̭̗̭̝͇̂͛̓̂͠ǝ̵̥̟̥͍̯̍̾̆͗̾l̸̢͉̮̯̮̐̿̾͘͝ ̵̡̡̛̠͓̟̆͑̂͝ɒ̴̧͙̫̦͇̔̀̒̂͘ϱ̴̻͎͓̰̪͊̅͒̏͝ɒ̷̧͓̯̦̻͋͗́̋͝i̶͍͔̖̙̩͐̽͊̀̅n̸̢̡͈̦͙͛̍́̿͠ ̵̮͚͖̪̜̂̒͑̆͝o̵̢̘̱͇̞͋̈́̓̚͝ɿ̶̞̺̰̖͖̈̎͑̀̚ ̷̧̡̡̭̺͆̀̂̐̉ʞ̴͔̳̻̳̥͑͂̄̓͘i̴̞̟͎͇̘͐̒̐̀̕l̴̢̛͈͖̤̐̈̍͠ͅl̵̳̫͖͓͓̑̍̈̽͑ ̸̡̘̲̯͇́͊̀͘͠(̶̠̙͎͈͇̇͗̑̉͠ ̴̨͎̳͕͇́͊̽͂̕“̸̢̘͈͈̟̈́̆̒̐͛q̴͉̭̜̝͇̔͐̌͂̓υ̴̧̮̮̻̖͒́̈́̂͐ɿ̸̡̱̳͓͙̄̀́͑͘i̵̺͉̝̫̞̎͒͊͊͘ʇ̴̨̦̰̮̪͂͛̑̔͆γ̴͙̞̠͖̦̉̉̍̽̚”̴̧̺̯̟͔̍̍̅͠͠ ̶̞̯̖̺͔̈̊̍̾͗)̴̛͍̣̖̏́͋̂͜ͅ ̶̨͓̻̜͓͛̍̐̒͘Ɉ̵̜̮̹̭̯̿̎̇͠͝ʜ̷̨̞̼̝͔̋̀̄̄͝ǝ̴̨͉͉̙̜̒̂͋̾̅m̶̭͉̲̬̫̅̾͌̚͝.̴̣̫̠͕̮͛̌̆̎̋

Encounters with this abnormality are extremely rare, its existence is still in debate. There were very few cases reported before the first “encounter” at The Happy Corporation.

Since then, more cases have come to light, though none have ever been solved.

There has been one, very old, documented case of a child surviving an encounter with the “Red Man”, but no definitive answer seems likely to ever be found. This leads to the belief that the Red Man is simply a product of one's imagination or a hallucination.

Most department leaders at The Happy Corporation agree that a “Red Man” could be a very dangerous and unpredictable abnormality of type “Atzilut”. This means, If it does exist, ̶D̶O̶ ̶N̶O̶T̶ ̶i̶n̶t̶e̶r̶a̶c̶t̶,̶ ̶a̶v̶o̶i̶d̶ ̶c̶o̶n̶f̶r̶o̶n̶t̶a̶t̶i̶o̶n̶,̶ ̶e̶s̶c̶a̶p̶e̶ ̶a̶t̶ ̶a̶l̶l̶ ̶c̶o̶s̶t̶s̶!̶ ̶

Interesting bite-sized horror-hybrid pixel walking sim. I personally found this game ineresting, with it's weird soundtrack and characters that explore different themes and through their lessons let the player character confront the Red Man, a manifestation of negative emotion. I see a lot of potential from this developer, from what I can see in the store page it's their first game. I specially see potential in the character design department, lots of colorful and fun ideas. I'm eagerly awaiting the next game from this developer hopefully getting to flesh out their ideas and designs even more in future games.

I understand what it was going for, but it failed to be unique or interesting in its delivery. Has a fair amount of dialogue that felt preachy and an ending that did not feel earned.

0/10 A pixelated 2D walking sim. Good: - free - I like the game's description on Steam. It's kinda more interesting than the game itself :) About The Red Man: DaatOS@Binah:~$ init qli -1 daataql> USE HappyCorp_daatabase; -> SELECT log FROM Abnromalities.RedMan; 1 row in set (0.0001 sec) Bad: - it's actually like on the screenshots - there is an unskippable cutscene at start, you can't speed it up - the game hang on me 2 minutes in when I tried crossing some bridge (? not sure, something brown). I had to restart and let the starting cutscene run again for a minute or so just to get the minimal required playtime to be able to write this review. I don't really know why I care

[th]I'm a Steam curator, you can follow me[/th]
