About REPUNK

MISSION BRIEFING 018-57432908578930245-2047

Our satellites captured images of a Device on the surface of Mars. All attempts reaching it with Crawlers have been futile. A human Envoy is required. If you are reading this, it means you have been chosen for this mission.

You will land in a solo Astrodrop-od, near the Device location. It is your first Directive to retrieve the Device. You will have 48 hours to reach the Extraction Point, and 12 more hours before the Extraction Team leaves the planet.

Don't waste your time wandering too far - if you don't make it on time, your mission on Mars will be extended for eternity.

An A-C9 unit will provide you with on-site assistance, including ground analysis, coms and resource management. We know you had issues with your AI companion on your last mission, but we assure you this new generation is safer.

We have great Faith in You, Commander. Travel safe. Retrieve the Device. And come back home.

The world of Repunk

If you like off-road exploration on difficult terrain, driving heavy vehicles - then this game might be for you.

If you like to listen to in-game radio stations while driving around - then this is really for you.

And if you made it this far and still continue reading - you will be pleased to know that Repunk contains tens of full length books, some of them older editions from Earth (a great collection of classics from Verne, Lovecraft, Edgar Rice Burroughs and many more), but you might also find lost books from Martian authors (I could tell you their names, but they won't probably be meaningful to you... yet).

Repunk is a non-linear open experience: you go wherever you want to go, and enjoy it in any way you want.

The Overlords who sent you to Mars would love for you to comply and perform all your Directives exactly as they expect you to do... but you can also choose to avoid them completely and find your own path. Your AI companion might refuse to accept your orders, but don't worry about it now: I'm sure you will find a way out.

The story is set, but the adventure is all yours: take control now!

I find this game both nice and disappointing at the same time, because Nice: Great introduction Fantastic vehicle design Great HUD design Oxygen and frost mechanics are a nice touch Disappointing: The gameplay is too empty, the presentation makes it look more interesting, than it actually is Mission time limit - kinda defeats the whole exploration idea, instead of creating the sense of urgency and danger, it just feels annoying. Mars environment is rather bland, the vehicle dynamics is rather unnatural. After you restart a couple of times, there is little motivation to try again, because the experience is simply not so rewarding, as it could be in a game like this. The first starting minutes are interesting, but after that, the game fizzles out pretty quickly.

First of all, I should say that I really enjoy the mechanics of driving vehichles on other planets with challenging terrain and lower/higher gravity. Mass Effect's Mako, Elite Dangerous' SRVs, Star Citizen's vehicles - all a bit janky but extremely fun. So this game gets an instant 10/10 from me by just having the drivable LV. It feels almost perfect to drive, and the only thing I would like to change about it is it's initial acceleration - sometimes it's literally starting from a crawl. Other than that, some audio balancing would be nice (some songs on the radio are too loud).

Repunk has been a very nice surprise. One of those games which actually pushes you to want to know more about its universe. One of those games that gets you hooked and doesn’t let you stop until you’re sure you have peaked at every corner, until you have discovered every little secret. The atmosphere is great and shows that you do not need benchmarks in graphics to create a very unique and interesting look. The feeling of loneliness, the urge, the context of your role, where you are absolutely necessary but irrelevant at the same time. The way it does not follow the mainstream current when it comes to objetives or missions and the definitive sensation that you are playing something different and something that was developed after a long brainstorming process. My only problem? I feel that there was something bigger behind this and I hope one day we can see and find out what happened in Mars. I would be the first one queuing up for it.

Repunk tells the story of an explorer trapped on Mars. Your mission is to reach the extraction point within 48h in-game hours. Although I didn't enjoy the timer constantly running, I did enjoy the sense of exploration and loneliness the game conceives. The lack of a menu is troublesome for those who want to play with the graphic settings but the game is running perfectly fine without it, even on Steam Deck. A recommendation of you know what you're into; a walking sim through and through. If you want to check it for yourself, press the link below: https://youtu.be/YSdDqCRmZtk
