About Restoring the Past

Hello everyone, I’m an indie game developer with five cats. This is a free 2D puzzle game where you restore damaged artifacts from various periods of ancient history. Move and rotate the pieces to complete the restoration like a jigsaw puzzle!

Game Features:

  • Each level showcases a beautifully crafted ancient artifact, accompanied by a brief introduction.
  • Simple mouse controls: Left-click to move, scroll to zoom, and right-click to rotate.
  • A nostalgic art style with relaxing background music.
  • A peacefully sleeping cat will always be by your side—come and unwind!

if the game stopped at level 8, i probably would've given a positive review, but after playing all 12 levels, i unfortunately cannot recommend it. i do puzzles to relax, not to fight for an hour with 20 tiny triangles that are all the same color, with no texture whatsoever, which turns into a guessing game. that's not how puzzles work. it stops being fun after level 8. and i won't talk about level 12, it was not enjoyable whatsoever. i did finish all puzzles but that's because i'm a completionist. if you play on steam deck, you'll lose your eyesight. the tiniest pieces are just a few pixels wide which makes it extremely unpleasant to play. the reference image looks blurry and can't be enlarged, which makes it completely useless and not helpful at all, especially for puzzles with very tiny details. there are no ways to get clues, which maybe would've made the game a little less painful to play. if you want a good puzzle game similar to this one, search for Mizi No (also free), this game is just a really poorly made copy of it which is really unfortunate.
