Pieces of the Past is a cozy idea that never quite comes together. The variety in what you repair is decent, photo frames, letters, trinkets, all different enough to keep things from feeling repetitive on paper. But the actual repairing rarely feels good. Between the brush, glue, and nudging pieces into focus, none of it comes across as tactile and it's more janky than satisfying. Most of the puzzles are so easy they stop being puzzles at all, and a few are just tedious busywork. Each fixed item does come with a small story beat about a family member, and that part is pleasant enough while it lasts. It just doesn't stick. None of the reveals grabbed me or built into something I actually cared about by the end. Visually it's fine at a glance but thin once you look closer. The antique shop setting needed more detail and texture to sell the nostalgic mood it's going for, and as it stands the atmosphere falls a bit flat. Audio is in the same boat. The music is pleasant background noise, nothing more, and the sound design doesn't feel particularly polished. On the technical side I didn't hit any bugs or crashes, so at least it runs cleanly. Such a cozy little game! Really nice to play when you just want to chill after a long day. Cleaning and fixing things is weirdly satisfying. Perfect game for a relaxing evening.

I don't want to be mean but it feels ridiculous to charge people for this... It's fairly buggy, the environment is very cold and whatever the opposite of cozy is, the "touching stories" are a handful of insignificant voicelines randomly thrown around, and the "puzzle-solving" is basically clicking around and letting the game play itself. If you do buy this definitely don't get it full priced.

A quick & simple, lowkey puzzle game. Worth noting that you can beat it in an hour or so; consider that when making your purchase.
