About Road Diner Simulator: Prologue

The Road Diner prologue tells the story of the very beginning of the old diner on Route 66 before the events of the game Road Diner. Unlike the full game, this is the original old diner before the rebuild and you get to run it for a few days on your own.On first look the old diner is a well frequented business ran by the original owner. Looking closer however it is struggling. The normal folks, the families and travelling salesmen are in decline and the cook left.It is up to you to take care of the old diner and making it work while taking a closer look at all aspects of the business and introduce changes in order to improve the situation.

Wait Tables

Seat patrons at their tables, take their order, serve coffee, take care of refills and eventually handle the check. And looking after them in between is probably a good idea, too.
Make sure to not overdo it. Too many customers and you might get in trouble serving them in a timely fashion. Nobody likes to wait too long.

Keep it Clean

Collect empty plates, bring them to the dish washer and clean them. Before doing that, it might be a good idea to wipe the tables and take a look at the floor if nothing has been spilled that might need a clean up. Nobody likes visiting a dirty diner.

Grill & Cook

Grill multiple grilled dishes and use the stove to cook more regular ones. Maintain control of the orders and special requests and make sure they not only go out to the customers quick, but also in a good quality. Nobody likes undercooked or overcooked food and mistakes made will be reflected in customer satisfaction and tips.

Run the Diner

Getting orders, cooking and serving is just a part of your job. There are many more tasks that have to be taken care of in order to run a successful diner. You obviously have to take care of the pantry and make sure you stock all the ingredients and goods you need. And then there are the less obvious tasks like keeping the diner clean or making sure it remains popular.

Really enjoyed this short (and I mean short) prologue! (But it does give you a good all round view of the whole game) The game ran smoothly from start to finish, and I didn't run into any issues. The tutorial does a great job of introducing the mechanics without overloading you with information. Everything feels intuitive, and it's just enough to get you hooked without being overwhelming. I'm really looking forward to the full release, this is definitely a game I'll be picking up on day one.

Just playing the prologue I can tell this will give you a true diner experience. The roaches, the busted grill, the unorganized sort of pantry, and a boss that expects you to do 5 jobs for one paycheck. If you ever had to buss tables or work in a diner/restaurant that should have an F rating but somehow it's still open, then this game is for you. It was fun, but I can easily tell without goals or milestones I would easily get bored of this game.

Got stuck on the task to clean the dishes after customers left. I only had 3 tables yet I had to clean 4. I haven't been able to play further because of this. Its really sad as I was looking forward to this. If anyone has any idea what I could do to fix this I would really appreciate it.

I actually really enjoyed this. I appreciated the option of turning off the 'roaches' aspect and now it's just flowers running around the ground (very cute). It has a lot of potential in being a cozy simulation. I have a lot of ideas on where they could improve but for a demo, it was fun! Not sure about the haters as I haven't experienced any of what they did but, again, great potential!

LOVES:

If you're a sim-game junkie, I think you're in for a treat - as far as demo's go it was energetic, action-packed, fast-paced with a fresh vibe.
The graphics are stunning, performance was excellent with no issues. (Radeon RX 6800 + Ryzen 9 5900X + 64 RAM)
I also love that despite it being a free-demo - once you complete it you can still keep playing and with more unlocked recipes which is appreciated for a game that isn't out yet.
MEH'S:

Controls are tedious initially with the grill on KBM but as soon as you get it, it's fine.
A LOT of guests show up in the tutorial with very limited table space but they don't affect your performance rating so don't be intimidated by the queue.
OH DEAR'S:

Haven't seen anything on the customisation-side yet outside of re-naming tables but I am sure this would be in the full release (right...?!). I would struggle to commit to this game if I couldn't customise the floors/walls/roofs/tables and further grind to buy nice upgrades and customisation pieces. But as there's no evidence of this being in the game or out of it - I won't attribute it to my o…
