Rope

Rope is an arcade-style action puzzle game that doesn't involve falling blocks, which is an underserved genre. Gameplay is conceptually simple - you move, you lay down a rope, if four of the same color rope connect they disappear and you get points. But of course there's more to it. The main tension in the game comes from balancing longer chains versus just surviving. If you go over a rope that's already laid, it's erased, the rope you would have laid is gone, and you take damage. The more ropes there are on the screen the more likely this is. So you could just try to make sets as quickly as possible... but besides being difficult due to the random order colors come out, it gives you very few points. You can get more points by making longer chains. If you make a seven chain - the longest possible, which requires preparing two separate three-chains and connecting them - you get an extra life. So having too many chains on the screen will kill you, but it's also the best way to get more points and extra life. And thus you become the agent of your own destruction.
