SCHAR: Blue Shield Alliance is a space action game featuring strategy elements that takes place after Mankind has traveled across three star systems and multiple planets within, crossing an aggressive force known only as CoNs. Striking sci-fi visuals and dynamic music combine with disparate missions for hours of intriguing gameplay and overall replay value.
The game features a unique mechanic called the salvage system which governs your objectives in the levels, your upgrades between levels, and provides a scoring mechanic. SCHAR: Blue Shield Alliance also has a strong focus on cooperative play, with different ship types featuring unique abilities that promote teamwork between players. Classes should feel familiar to MMO players with the likes of a "healer," "tank" and other ships that are all upgradable.

In the future mankind stretches out across the galaxy utilizing new technology based on dark matter – humans were finally able to discover new worlds and colonize the universe. It was the search for new life that drove this exploration more than anything else, but after hundreds of years it appeared we were alone.
Suddenly that all changed. Without warning our colonies were attacked. An alien force, known as the Constituents of Nothing appeared out of nowhere systematically wiping out our colonized worlds. These aliens were unlike anything we’ve ever seen – they harnessed the same dark matter to power themselves and their civilization. Our weapons were useless against this new threat.
Soon we discovered pieces of the alien’s destroyed technology could help us create an Anti-Dark Matter particle. This Blue-Energy, named for the color it glowed, stopped the aliens in their tracks. Now mankind must band together, to form an alliance and push back the CoN invasion. We must protect our colonies using Blue-Energy shield generators. Otherwise we face certain extinction.

I let a friend of mine play a wide variety of games, to experience them. Good games, bad games, horrible games... It's not often he aborts a game, yet this is one of those. Mostly because the mouse isn't bound to the window, and we lost the gamewindow a couple of times. Sometimes you just don't want to handle that, and move on to the next game. This doesn't look like an awful game. Reading the reviews some people have experienced this on an older console. Barely anyone has played this beyond an hour. So with my very limited exposure to the game I join those ranks. This is a 2D top down ripoff of 1962's SpaceWar! (one of the first video games) where you fly a spaceship around and shoot projectiles at spaceships that you don't like. It's a familiar story. There are a few graphics customisation options and the game is in colour so that's what Brainshape (smooth) have to show for 53 years (!!!) of video game development technology since SpaceWar! came out. I think after 53 years of planning to rip off a video game you could come up with better graphics and gameplay, but nope. Also, you get insulted by console peasant childrens toy gamepad prompts, and that's really sufficient for any PC gamer to immediately dismiss this. The guys who did StarControl did a much better job of this and the remake of StarCon2, The Ur-Quan Masters, which is free, has better graphics than this does, and better gameplay. And better story. It's good that this is cheap, but even at $2 this is more expensive than better games. So, don't buy this until you've finished StarCon2. And StarCon3.. and, well, most of the Steam catalogue.2 found this helpful

Two bucks for a couch co-op game to play with the kids? Pretty good value. Don't go into this expecting too much, and it is hard to be disappointed. Take the melee mode from the star control games, but instead of 1vs1 combat, you are working together to defend against waves of bots.
