Sea of Chaos

"Sea of Chaos" or "Chaos Sea" (it's always a sign you're gonna have a bad time when the developer doesn't know what their game is called) is a very complicated premise for a game. This is a hybrid real time strategy/tower defense/base builder/tactical strategy... did I miss any? I probably missed some. And while the game fights to span so many genres, it delivers successfully on none of them. The weak technical implementation is the nail in the coffin for this failed for-profit game. The game has you build out a base, recruit troops... there's a lot to do and the developer describing this as "easy" was quite possibly being sarcastic. And such a premise might even work if it was competently and professionally delivered. This features really godawful, lazy pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks bad because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Can't even seriously review a game in such a state... On one hand, there is obviously tons of work some guy has put into this. Some images (like the UI icons for the buildings or the animated mobs) aren't too bad. And there is a whole level editor! However, there is no tutorial whatsoever. And in a battle, I don't even know what to click. Mobs come from all sides, you can select buildings but there are no panels or buttons to produce anything. If this is supposed to be an RTS game(?) English is pretty much atrocious. But what's even more disturbing is the chaotic capitalization across the UI labels. Sometimes there are spaces before commas and no space after. Sentences aren't capitalized. I guess this is common with people (like Chinese) who don't have Western alphabets. But to a Westerner, such negligence of grammar looks appalling. The first thing that this game needs is proofreading by someone who speaks English. Though it would be impossible without the dev himself sitting next to such proofreader and explaining everything.
