[h1] Introduction [/h1] "Secret Files: Sam Peters" is a 2013-released point-n'-click-adventure by german developer Animation Arts and serves as a spin-off of their popular "Secret Files" games. Instead of Nina Kalenkow and Max Gruber who served as the protagonists of the 3 main games, this time we take control of eponymous, blonde archaeologist Sam Peters. She was originally introduced as a playable character in "Secret Files 2: Puritas Cordis", but unfortunately didn't make an appearance in the third entry of the series. In "Secret Files: Sam Peters" we finally get to know what happened to Sam after Max helped her break out of captivity in Indonesia. [h1] Story [/h1] The story starts off exactly after the events from the second game: Sam finds herself alone at the beach of an island in Indonesia. But there isn't any time for long introductions (or to look after Max) because our journalist extraordinaire is not only pursued by her former captivators, but the local volcano has just decided to break out... This little nod to the events of the second game only serves as a dramatic introduction to the game, because the original story starts only when Sam returns to Berlin. Her boss …

Good story line. Well thought out gameplay. Just challenging enough to keep things interesting. Worth the price!

The best part of this game was seeing the words "The End". That really made an emotional impact on me.

Secret Files: Sam Peters takes the familiar point-and-click adventure formula and narrows its focus into a more personal and contained mystery. Instead of delivering a large-scale story involving worldwide conspiracies and multiple interconnected plots, the game chooses a more concentrated approach centered around one character and a specific investigation. The result is an adventure that feels smaller in scope than some entries connected to the Secret Files universe, yet still manages to create intrigue through mythology, exploration, and supernatural mystery. The story follows journalist Sam Peters, who travels to Africa in pursuit of strange reports and unexplained incidents connected to local legends. What initially begins as a professional investigation slowly develops into something far more dangerous as rumors surrounding mysterious creatures and ancient stories become increasingly difficult to dismiss. The game builds much of its appeal around the idea of searching for truth in situations where myth and reality appear to overlap, creating a narrative that gradually pulls players deeper into uncertainty. A mini adventure episode of the Secret Files. I like this kind of P&C adventures. Puzzles are built up logically, as in other Secret Files adventures, too. Look&Feel old-fashioned, but this does not reduce the fun with the puzzles. The story reminded me of the movie "The Relic". Needed just a "few" hours to play. I played 1.5* for both ends as I missed to save inbetween. ;) I bought this game bundled with many others for less than 10€, so no problem for me.

A normal puzzle solving game but with better visuals though I wouldn't classify them as great. The visuals represented during gameplay are indeed better than what I came to expect in a puzzle solving game. However, the character animations leave a lot to be desired. I haven't tried the other titles in this series yet, but the story sort of abruptly came to stop after building up to a good point. One irksome detail I found is the inventory system. The puzzle solving elements are decently fleshed out and you can complete it very quickly. The trouble with character model animations cropped up at the last part - specifically during the close ups with the protag and the professor. In spite of appearing to be decently designed, the animations were not. Adding achievements could be a bonus, Alas they don't exist for this game (as of writing this review). - 7/10
