Finally found a free strategy game that's actually fun… and now I spend my evenings waiting for other people to realize it exists. Until then, it’s me vs the AI — and they're surprisingly mean. Highly recommend if you like great tactics and empty lobbies. 😊 Update 2026: I've just played it again, and I'm pleasantly surprised by how much has changed in the last few months. You're on the right track. I've reported a few bugs that I noticed. Keep up the great work.

Section Gamma is a very well thought out mix between chess-like tactics and classical turn based real time strategy. It provides a challenging campaign, which even gets experts in the genre to think out tactics and plan ahead, making the single player mode very enjoyable. Those who want to test their true skill, can partake in the Multiplayer mode as well.

Section Gamma is a fantastic turn-based strategy game that really deserves more attention. The tactical options are solid, the AI puts up a good fight. Even better — the base game is completely free, including multiplayer. The developers are clearly passionate about the project and actively listen to player feedback. Definitely worth checking out if you enjoy games like Advance Wars or classic RTS titles with a turn-based twist.

Create game, trying to find settings, need to return to main menu for it, returned, try to play, getting "bruh pay me" window. Look like main menu simulator or smtn, can't even check gameplay, look very interesting

6.5/10 TBS in sci-fi setting TLDR: the main novelties here are area-based (instead of the usual range-based) movement and attacks with tricky rules + 3-stage turns (plan, build, move). The game ends up tedious because of mobile-optimized UI and controls that require too many clicks and needless confirmations. Plus, turtle-pace unit animations Good: + free + a unique system where units move across 3x3 areas and defend borders. Some attacks happen during the build phase, some when you enter an area, some when you come next to an area's border defender. It's definitely interesting but somewhat confusing at first + clean UI gfx + nice music So-so: +/- okay 3D graphics. Though I'd say this game would be easier and faster to play if it just had 2D gfx and a top-down view +/- UI seems to be optimized for phones. So, mouse-over is never utilized. This results in more clicks needed to do most UI actions. Instead, mouse-over should have shown info tooltips - and on PC they don't have to be scrollable because there is plenty of space on the screen to show them in full +/- there is a system of turn phases: first you "plan" (schedule) what building or units you want to build, then you actual…
