You enjoy Warhammer? You complain there isn't many unit based, turn based Warhammer games? Buy this game. It's good.
what mom calls warhammer at home
Its a great way to play tabletop 40k without buying the armies
This is a mixed review, but a little more positive than negative (and steam doesn't allow mixed). I'll preface by saying I haven't much experience with the tabletop game and I haven't played it in years, so I can't say much about this game's similarity to that. The core gameplay is good. I like the armour, effective range and combat systems and they require you to (to a certain extent) pick your units and their placement strategically. For the most part the space marine units feel quite unique and are used effectively for different types of engagements. Inceptors are very mobile and great for clearing swarms. Hellblasters are best used for fighting more armoured enemies at range. The only other army I tried playing as were the necrons, which felt more lacking in unit versatility. Their vehicles didn't feel nearly as good and they didn't seem to have as much swarm clearing ability compared to something like the inceptors or even regular intercessors from the space marines. They did seem to have more per-unit damage and can self-repair but the lack of shots fired hurts them I feel. For me, the worst part about combat was how long it takes. It's not so bad on your turn sin…
A great turn based strategy game like the XCOM games! This is the closest officially licensed game we will ever get to the tabletop war game.
