About Seventh Circle

Seventh Circle is an urban fantasy visual novel about friendship, love, and fighting people with magic.

You play as a modern-day mage. Fresh out of college with a degree in the arcane, you've made your childhood dream come true by gaining admittance to the Trillian, a renowned league of arena battle mages, where the brightest young magical talents duke it out every week for money, fame, and bragging rights.

As you tangle with the Trillian’s big personalities—an uptight genius, a hot-headed would-be rival, a handsome haloed jock, and more—you’ll uncover a mystery stretching back decades, and you might just find love while you’re at it.

So... will you join?

Seventh Circle was successfully funded on Kickstarter in 2018, and features
  • seven intersecting, dynamic character routes, featuring a cast of diverse LGBT characters
  • over two dozen different endings, allowing you to romance characters or encourage characters to romance each other
  • platonic and aroace-friendly relationship options and good endings
  • original art from illustrator Becca Farrow, with guest pieces from Adrian Valdes, Naomi Franquiz, Michelle Wong, Paulina Ganucheau, Little Corvus, Ryan Maniulit, and Punziella
  • RPG-like elements, such as the ability to select your pronoun (she, he, they, or xe) and a school of magic
  • an overarching mystery plot that, when solved, unlocks a unique final scene

I backed this game on kickstarter, played it one time (didn't even make it through one route), then the next time I opened the game, it failed to progress beyond the starting screen (black screen with the spinning triangle.) I posted about it on here and sent the devs a message, they responded saying they would look into it, and I never heard from them again. That was over a year ago. Perhaps they shouldn't have released a game when they weren't at all prepared to do any follow-up work on it. I wish I could get my money back.

I really, really wanted to like this game. From the concept and art it seemed right up my alley - schools of magic? Cute LIs? LGBTQ+? But I was seriously disappointed. Pros: - Art. The art is great, it's a really good game to look at. - Charming LIs. I really wish you got more of a chance to spend time with them doing different stuff. - Intriguing worldbuilding. Original magic systems are so fun and this one seemed like it really had some potential. - Dialogue. Pretty good! Cons: - Wasted worldbuilding. This is my biggest complaint, along with the one below. It is such a letdown to play this game and be so excited about this interesting world and then you just... don't really get the chance to play with or enjoy or dig into the world at all. - Stories are SO short. Everything feels like it's much shorter than it should be. Just when you feel like you're getting into the swing of things, it's over. Totally unsatisfying. All in all, though I listed more pros than cons, the cons are huge and I can't recommend this game as it was so disappointing to play.

It was very promising idea for the game, but product turns out disappointing. Devs seems like dropped this project without any patches and bug fixes.

couldn't even get past a scene cuz of a bug SMH. never finished the game because i simply couldn't. i remember being charmed by the characters back in 2020, but wanted deeply to return and get my money back but couldn't. developers never responded either, and it doesn't look like they did or will in the future.

I was only able to play 4 and a half hours total because the multiple routes I attempted would softlock me out of any progress. I can't recommend what I can't play, but the resounding silence from the devs since the game was released is enough to recommend playing something else.

Im gay and I love urban fantasy so this game was great for me!! Though there were some glitches and I feel like each route could be longer, I genuinely enjoyed playing this game, and I got attached to the characters much quicker than I would in most other vn's. Definitely worth a play!! (also i'd let Adrian destroy me holy hell)
