About SHOCK TROOPERS
“SHOCK TROOPERS ”, the fan favorite 2D top-down view action shooting game released exclusively on NEOGEO MVS in 1997, returns to the battlefield on Steam!
Progress through the battlefield, choosing the best routes and strategy!
Choose a character and go on your mission solo in “Lonely Wolf” mode, or form a team of three soldiers from the eight mercenary characters available, and try to rescue Dr. George and his granddaughter who have been kidnapped.
The route you choose at the beginning will affect the progress of the game, allowing you to enjoy an original gameplay experience time after time.
・MULTIPLAYER:
Connect to Steam and clear missions with a brother-in-arms far away via the Online Co-Op Play feature.
Engage with a fellow countryman or foreign ally, and try to put an end to the evil plans of the terrorist group called the “Bloody Scorpions”!
・LEADERBOARDS:
Check your current rank & score in “SHOCK TROOPERS” at any time, as well as those of your friends and other top troopers!
・SETTINGS:

Somehow clunky controlls and very short, I finished the game in less than an hour. Way too expensive for that. If you still want the game, get it when on sale with 85% discount like I did.2 found this helpful
It is essentially a souped-up Commando clone with a tiny bit of Gunsmoke three-direction shooting in it. Heavily inspired by old Capcom arcade games. It is a decent late soft remaster of the first Shock Troopers game. Of the Dotemu ports, this one seems to have got extra polish with the custom menus and no Dotemu launcher with wrong controls info pages in sight. While not as flashy or polished as the second game Shock Troopers 2nd Squad, it does have more characters and possibly more levels. You can beat the game in less than an hour easy. It is the perfect length for a simple yet flashy coin-op game like this one. If you have to choose between this one or the 2nd Squad sequel, pick the sequel. The control scheme makes that one easier and more satisfying to play. I'd say get them both for cheap.
I never played the Shock Troopers games, despite my love of SNK & NEO•GEO. I really missed out, brother! This game (and I'm assuming the sequel, which I will play as well) play like Ikari Warriors on steroids AND cocaine! I guess it's very similar to MERCs, but even better than that with its large cast of playable characters (like a fighting game), and its options - like multiple paths to play and a team battle option, which gives you three fighters at your disposal. This is an insane, action-packed, big gun shooting bonanza of the most epic of proportions! I absolutely love this!
A disaster of a "port". This and Dotemu socks balls all day, just because they like it so much
Does it work? yes. how is it comparable with the original neogeo? this port does indeed feel like a downgrade graphical version of the arcade. i emulated the neogeo arcade version of this game on my rg35xx plus and the explosion colors pop out much more on their than it does here. I mean there was no frame drop or anything playing it here but when comparing it to the neogeo yes theres a graphical difference of colors. Things looked more "HD" on the RG than it did on these ports. get it when its on sale
As much as I want to recommended this game, the frame drops happens to often for the game to be enjoyable. for a buck in special, it is not that bad, but still not enjoyable as it seems to always drops when a bullet is coming your way
