A classic. Metal Slug was one of the top (2D) shoot 'em up games when it first came out. Its pixel art still holds up today, with impressive animations and some destructable environments. It may be a little short considering the price, but I think the goal of such games was ( and is, since the leaderboards are still active ) to beat other people's high-scores. Of course playing for fun is also alright, but If you're not familiar with it or similar games you'll die a lot. Which isn't fun and will end up ruining the score. Aside from that there's the option for local and online co-op which is awesome. I believe the story is inspired by WWII, it's about you trying to stop an evil army leader. I noticed some red flags with a white circle and a black symbol in the middle, so that's probably a hint too. One thing which kinda bothered me are the random slowdowns. It also affects the music, kinda lame. Looked it up and it has something to do with the game's engine not being able to process too many sprites at once or something like that.1 found this helpful
As an arcade enthusiast the input delay is insane and bothersome. Skip this, and play it some other way like on MAME.
