[h1]Promising foundations, but not quite there yet[/h1] SimElection USA has genuine ambition. The candidate creator lets you set ideology, political background, and priority issues; the primary system models staggered delegate allocation by region rather than a simple national poll; and the interview mechanic adds some flavour to what could otherwise be a dry strategy loop. For a political simulation nerd, the bones are interesting. There are some rough edges that will hopefully get ironed out. The character creator has an avatar selection bug that carried through into my playthrough — a minor immersion hit but noticeable. The menu system also needs some work: hunting for the music toggle (which I'd suggest finding early — the looping soundtrack isn't for everyone) accidentally exited my campaign. I restarted a couple of times before getting a stable run going, which isn't ideal for a first impression. The bigger opportunity for the developer is in deepening the campaign mechanics. Right now candidates feel like they're running parallel races rather than clashing directly, and policy positions don't yet translate into meaningfully different gameplay — a campaign rally plays the sam…

Highly recommended. Easy to pick up, but surprisingly deep. Campaigns are fairly short, which works great for quick sessions, but it’s the kind of game that keeps you coming back to try new strategies and improve your runs.
