It's a fun, nonlinear way to tell a story. There's not a huge amount of puzzle to the game - and not hard to finish it in one sitting - but it's done earnestly, and with a couple fun contrivances. For me, there were a few times when I found that a few similar terms that seemed interchangeable belonged in some blanks, but by and large I found a lot of the design choices satisfying, and it didn't overstay its welcome.
I played this looking for more experiences like Return of the Obra Dinn however left feeling short changed. #1: The game is incredibly short #2: The "mystery" is mostly solved by the text prompts, not your own deductions #3: The UI is intentionally obtuse, looking up redacted text was painful every time
Well made atmospheric puzzle game. A bit too short, maybe. Cool art and a good experience nonetheless.
It's a good game, but it's way too easy and way too short. The main mystery of the game is solved in 3 clicks and the rest of the game becomes "waiting for the slow text crawl". I really liked the setting and would wholly recommend this, if the game improves a bit more. My biggest issue is that the main focus of the plot can be inferred as soon as you read the first few articles, leaving the game feel like it's missing a driving question of "what is going on?"/ I'd love to see more of the subtext be moved to the rewritten article viewer, maybe even hiding the existence of the mushroom in the rewritten article viewer. It would also be deeply appreciated if the page tree included a "rewritten article" marker. Another thing I'd love to see is the ability to increase the text crawl speed, as it got very tiresome very quickly watching the text slowly appear. Beyond that, it's a really cute and short game, only taking 80 minutes, but I'd love to see the game get developed further, and more challenging! <3
Enjoyable bite-sized deduction game. Clicking through the archives feels satisfying and there's an interesting story to parse through, even if it feels a bit limited by the smaller scope. It doesn't wear out its welcome and is perfect for a weekend play.
A short game with a great story and interesting premise, the puzzles require genuine thought and the gameplay is simple yet satisfying. 10/10, I would buy more if this game was a series.
