The game itself is fun. It sometimes lags and bugs, but guess that's just my old crappy PC. I recommend this game, cuz it shows the fun of driving a train in real life.2 found this helpful
Wziasc sie za robote nieroby i skonczyc gre1 found this helpful
I don't like this game. Performance is okay but kinda meh, loads of lag spikes just walking around. Sounds are generally good but they are badly mixed, locos are barely audible in the external view for instance. Controls are terrible, I've had to re-bind everything and there's some controls you can't change so good luck. Actual driving is okay but god forbid you get a switch cab command midway through a scenario, there is nothing to guide you so make sure you pause the game and look up a tutorial, because you WILL miss something unless you have hundreds of hours playing every single loco in the game. There is an "open manual" button which opens some kind of unfinished menu with nothing on it. Scenario selection is a joke, you want a freight train on a specific route? Here you go, one scenario. At least you can configure that one scenario to play at different times of day, in different seasons and with different weather options but it's still the same scenario every time. Oh yeah, weather system... There is basically none, there's 4 weather presets and that's it. This is still very much an early access game, even though they removed the badge and added plenty of DLC's. Had I known …
Overall, I liked the sim. The graphics are quite nice, there are no major performance issues, except for the standard Unity lags when loading while moving and certain places. I've never driven a train, but the physics and brakes feel realistic to me. The game focuses on completing routes; sorting, shunting, preparation and anything that isn't a route are almost absent. Tutorials... well, from bad to okayish, depending on the engine. The routes are long, there are saves, but they are unstable. Randomly unstable - some modules and switches end up in random positions or you suddenly driving the rear cabin. How and why this happens is unknown. But third loading might be lucky! Make sure Spacebar and H are working on keyboard :D
Recommended? More yes than no, although "Neutral" would probably be the fairest rating. It's an interesting and highly realistic simulator. For me, it could be fantastic... but there's a catch. Its greatest strength is the multiplayer experience and the real-time interaction between train drivers and dispatchers. However, that only works if there are actually people to communicate with. Unfortunately, at the moment only the Polish server (PL1) has a healthy player base. And don't expect to be able to use English there. It's not an official rule, but in practice that's how it is. If you're unlucky, some players even claim they've been banned for it. The German server (DE1) is more tolerant, but it's much less populated. The same goes for the "international" server (INT1), where English is the standard (see below for a real example). This is the current multiplayer problem: One Polish server with a healthy population. As I'm writing this at 6 PM on a Saturday, about half the trains are being operated by human players (74/144), and the same is true for traffic controllers (29/61). Then there's a whole collection of servers in other languages, plus the international one. Individu…
Can't even complete tutorial because train operation seems buggy with multiple locos. Different locos not responding to throttle input after breaking or just rolling to a stop, despite no "mode changes", tutorials not saying what is next step, often leaving you clueless/having to restart the tutorial or look at for a google guide, yeah. It'd also be nice to have a description of the button show up in english, when you hover over it, because unles you can Polish, good luck trying to figure things out on your own with a poor tutorial... This needs far more time in the oven, but it is promissing physics and graphics wise.
