Sinister Halloween

This is not a game you play to be scared. This is a game you play because you love Halloween, and all the campy spookiness that comes with it. I'm a lifelong Halloween fanatic, and when I found out that there was an entire game on Steam that was centered around the holiday, I knew right away that I had to give it a try. From the word “go”, I was not disappointed. The scenery and atmosphere in this game are exactly what you'd hope they would be. The first level is a sort of semi-open world hub, set in a suburban neighborhood that's jam packed with side quests, bonus objectives, and a plethora of festive frights. Virtually every house in this area is thoroughly adorned with a wide variety of Halloween decorations, and the only NPCs not wearing costumes are the local cops, and the monsters themselves, of which there are a wide and impressive variety! All across this game you'll encounter everything from zombies, ghosts, and werewolves, to giant spiders, chainsaw butchers, Treebeard's grumpy cousins, and more. Worth a dollar or two at most. If you get it cheaply, it will be a funny walkthrough. The voices are annoying and the graphics are atrocious. You will lose guns, flashlights, or both at some point. It gave me a chuckle to check out the old tech, but I couldn’t recommend it unless it’s very cheap.

What the F is this? i can't believe all the good reviews. This really gave me a soft one. There is not one thing good about this piece of sh"t. Graphics suck, controls suck even more, the gun sucks, the flashlight sucks and what is the hell is the "game" here exactly? You choose campain, you start in a town, pick up your girlfriend and visit some haunted houses where you get hit by ghosts all the time. Turning is so slow you can't even avoid them. There is just nothing to do, nothing gets explained. I uninstalled after 15 minutes and blowed on the back of my hand real hard trying to revive my soft one. This is by far the worst thing i ever encountered in vr.

Be aware. This developer has a cheaper bundle of three of there games and one DLC. If you buy any of there games separately you are locked out of purchasing that bundle an getting the discount. I purchased Sinister Halloween and later in the year noticed there VR bundle. Couldn't buy the bundle. So price was 50% more if I wanted to buy the same items. This is anti-consumer practice. In the end. I purchased the bundle on another account. With the caveat the if the games aren't as good as promised that I can always refund. As for this game. Its very, very poor quality. The voice acting, or AI acting, is beyond awful. It worse with the animations though. Its all based on events. So, the characters on screen will be like mannequins until the store wants some action from them. Even then the movements are unnatural. For instance, on the first level one of the characters is talking while facing the wrong direction. The graphics are poor also. Tried the DLC level. This was better as there limited NPC's. There where jump scares but it was so over the top that it actually got boring. Avoid like the plague

Its a fun little halloween game. Love the scenery and the separate stages. The game itself is a bit janky so you will have to look past that. Enemies struggling to remain on the floor and bobbing up and down as if trying not to clip through the floor. Attacks don't always connect. The costume update is a little broken. If I select one and start a stage it will change the selection to something else. Quite often I got the playboy bunny costume even though I selected something else. Somtimes it was select multiple but still give the bunny costume. Besides that there are some very nice ideas and you can tell a lot of love has been put into it. I just wish the women didn't sound like they were stupid lol Their voices can get annoying. I'd be interested to see how this game creators skills develop in future games

This is the best bad game I've ever played, and I mean that affectionately. It's like walking through an average 80s B horror movie, it's scary enough to keep you on your toes, it's silly enough it's not oppressive, and it's just fun. I definitely recommend this game, I played in VR and I think that's the best way to play personally.
