What a delight. It might not seem like much, but it's a very well crafted puzzle game - great design and pacing, and even some simple yet cute music that changes every 5 levels. The deal is simple. You can cycle through 4 colours, and touching something that is not your colour kills you. Your objective is to absorb all the slimes in the room or defeat the boss. How else are you going to prove you're a good slime king? There are 10 chapters, each consisting of 4 levels and a boss. Every chapter introduces some new mechanic - the levels teach you, challenge you, and then the boss tests your understanding. I found myself beating the entire game almost in one sitting because of how pleasant the entire experience was. That said - I couldn't get the controller to work, but that's fine, I got by with the keyboard. Also some levels are tough. Chapter 2 is for some reason the hardest by far, and some bosses also feel harder than they should have been. But that didn't stop me from beating the game rather quickly. Don't make the mistake of thinking that this is some amateur stuff. I've played another of this dev's games, Snake Pit…

This game looks unassuming but it's tons of fun! Everything in the game comes down to the same rule: if you can turn into its color, you can defeat it / survive it. And it plays with this masterfully - first just introducing different colored slimes, then colored terrain that you can walk on if you're the designated color, colored drops... and 10 different diabolical color changing bosses that change colors faster the more you hit them. It plays like a mix of puzzle and action, as you have to figure out just when to change colors and where, but also executing on the plan can be tricky. Every chapter introduces a new mechanic so it never really gets old, and certainly doesn't overstay its welcome. The bosses are dynamic and fun to figure out a strategy and always use whatever mechanic was just introduced very well. The only complaint I have about the game is the timing of projectiles. The drops and turrets seemed to shoot at you randomly? I was trying to figure out a pattern but the timing was so varied that it eventually just came down to luck. Minor gripes, but that was the only blemish on an otherwise nice creative experience.

The game is fun, and I love the main gameplay mechanic which is the colour change. For someone as forgetful as me it was a nice challenge. I like how every chapter has its own little gimmick (albeit some are better than others) and I have enjoyed most of the bosses. The latter are, again, mostly well done and all have four HP which is just enough health for the battles to not be exhausting. My favourites are the boss of Chapter 6, the boss of Chapter 9 and the
first
boss of Chapter 10. The boss of Chapter 6 has a very fun idea behind it that subverts the previously estabished boss kill method a little bit and the boss of Chapter 9 presents a fun jumping puzzle of sorts — it's trial and error, but eventually you figure out all the timings and become more aware of your jumping capabilities. More on the
first
boss of Chapter 10 later. Now, to list some of my criticisms: 1. There's no level selection, only chapter selection. Because of this, you can't even ragequit the hard levels — if it's anything but the first level of the chapter, you'll have to replay the whole chapter from the beginning. And god forbid you press ESC during a level, thin…

A 1-hour game where you play as a slime king with the power to turn into 4 different colors. The goal across 10 chapters is to “eat” slimes with the correct color. But since that would be too easy, each chapter introduces a new mechanic. This includes invincible grey slimes, platforms in different color and fire-breathing statues. The entire challenge lies in the fact that you have to cycle through colors. You can’t just choose a desired color to overcome a puzzle. The order needs to be memorized because you’ll encounter different slimes moving over different platforms. For instance, green and blue slimes might be moving over green and blue floor. You’ll have to change into one color, kill one slime, and then jump, switch color in the air, and kill the other slime. Boss awaits you at the end of each chapter. They’re either easy or frustrating. While each has a different look, all are defeated the same way as normal slimes. The only catch is that they cycle through 4 colors; the speed increases after each hit. Overall, a fun game with easy achievements.
