Slime Kingdom: Idle

Idle & Incremental Lovers recommends Slime Kingdom: Idle. [i] Good first game for a solo dev. First few hours are pretty enjoyable: new gameplay elements are regularly introduced. But the pacing sadly becomes slower and slower the more you progress afterwards. [/i] + Multiple gameplay layers (quests, units, equipment, crafting, upgrades...) make it an interesting game to play in the first few hours. + UI is clear, music and art are OK. Nothing really stands out, but it's good and clean work + Slimes: aren't they the best creatures in videogames? (Dunno about real life, have yet to meet one.) + Dev is a real gentleman and actively tried to solve some issues I had with the game. - Passed a certain point, it takes way too much money to unlock the next quest, to the point it becomes a boring grind. A simple balancing patch could fix that. - The "world" feature (commerce, sign treaties and go to war with neighboring lands), introduced in the late game, is a quite obscure mechanic. You feel like you don't have the data and keys to understand the impact of your choices. - In fact, you're often left in the dark about what you need to do to unlock this or that (a new crafting recipe, a ne…

The balance is complete mess. Early hours are not very interesting. There's no real point to unlocking new quest areas - you get most income if you upgrade earlier ones. Crafted items don't seem to have any real rhyme or reason and are just there for quantity. Albeit you can find something helpful, eventually. Jobs are just side hustle to power crafting. Making advanced slimes from basic ones is a chore, e.g. basic => archer => gunner, gotta scroll screen up, then screen down to make a single one. Classed/advanced slimes don't seem to have clear purpose, besides being better than basic ones. Feels like AI slop, tbh.

Lovely game, Idle, Slimes! :P It's a bit confusing at some point, some images don't always match but it's still fun gameplay!

A decent idle game, but it does not have any offline progression, so can not recommend it.

Crashes a lot. No offline progression.

Start the game, first welcome window comes up and tells me to buy a slime or whatever. Then the game just does nothing, no buttons work, nothing happens. I'm meant to go to the units section but none of it works. Clicked everywhere with no luck at all. Very odd. Restart and reinstalled the game repeatedly and still no luck. Game literally doesn't work. Edit: Managed to get it to work in the end, the new issue is now that basically nothing is explained, I get the impression this game was only tested by the dev who knew already what everything does, but no explanation does mean a lot of this stuff is just stats with no real meaning to the player.
