Slipstream 5000, developed by Gremlin Interactive and The Software Refinery and published by Funbox Media Ltd, stands as a distinctive example of mid-90s experimentation, blending futuristic racing with aerial freedom in a way that still feels unusual even today. Rather than confining players to traditional tracks or even hover-based surfaces, the game places you in anti-gravity aircraft capable of full three-dimensional movement. This single design choice defines the entire experience, transforming what could have been a conventional racer into something closer to a hybrid between a flight game and an arcade competition. The core gameplay revolves around high-speed races across expansive environments, but the sense of freedom fundamentally changes how these races unfold. Very nice real oldschool retro Flight racer with fully voiced comments and introduction from each race. And there are also replays in different angles ! The ships are cool and the flying feels good with the Xbox controller. But..... This need an enhanced release with HD resolutions and better controller configuration (RB for gas please and not A if you get what I mean) And the midi music should be expanded with more variation and enhanced in good quality. It's a recommended game !
The art is incredible...
I raced at sound speed and now my coffee floats behind me — even the mug applied for astronaut training.
When I was young, I'd listen to the radio Waitin' for my favorite games When they loaded, I'd play along It made me smile Those were such happy times And not so long ago How I wondered where they'd gone But they're back again Just like a long-lost friend All the games I loved so well Every click-click-beep-beep Every pew-pew-loose-win Still shine!
