Small Dragon Big Appetite is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" made games, we must still question what value such projects have for gamers. As with all student projects, this isn't really a fully fleshed out game, it's just the result of an academic exercise, and as such it has much more limited value as a game than a professionally developed game would have. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments (especially if the students didn't even pass the course). Sure, it helps their marketing and helps the students feel good about themselves, but this is another case of a business putting themselves before the needs of gamers. This student project gives us a rather cute dragon that runs around devouring bunnies to survive in a low poly environment... there's not a huge amount of depth or interest here, but there's a bit of bordering gameplay beyond just hunting bunnies. Small Dragon Big Appetite takes a simple but amusing idea and builds an energetic action roguelike around it. You control Chompie, a small dragon with an enormous hunger, and venture through a colorful kingdom populated by bunnies that are both potential meals and increasingly dangerous opponents. The objective is immediately understandable: eat as many bunnies as possible, stay alive, and build the highest score you can before the day ends. This uncomplicated foundation gives the game an arcade-like quality where learning through repeated attempts matters more than following an elaborate story. The game was developed by Felipe Fleming, Morris Åstrand, Ralph Warrand, Katelin van Lissum, Juliya Mollen, Skye van den Reijen, Sara Hazel Park, and Johan Haubo, with Felipe Fleming and Morris Åstrand serving as publishers.
