SO BELOW offers a fun cooperative ghost-hunting experience with interesting mechanics and atmosphere, best enjoyed with a full team, though players recommend waiting for a discount given the current price. However, the game suffers from notable technical issues including glitches, getting stuck on geometry, awkward controls, and communication problems between menus, while the actual gameplay can feel repetitive and lacks consistent challenge or tension across different supernatural encounters.
fun, but wait for discount2 found this helpful
Step into a dangerous profession where survival is never guaranteed and every mission carries the possibility of disaster. In SO BELOW, players enter the service of HEXA GmbH, an organization specializing in dealing with supernatural threats hidden inside cursed and haunted properties. The company provides the equipment, the training, and the opportunity to build a reputation as an elite exorcist. The responsibility for staying alive, however, belongs entirely to the player. The world of SO BELOW transforms paranormal investigation and exorcism into a high-risk profession where preparation matters just as much as courage. Every haunted location hides different dangers, and every supernatural entity demands a unique approach. Some spirits can be dealt with quickly using trusted tools and proper execution. Others require significantly more effort, pushing players into complicated rituals, environmental problem-solving, dangerous encounters, and intense confrontations where one mistake can lead to failure. Progression revolves heavily around learning and adaptation. Success is not built purely through reflexes or speed. Knowledge becomes one of the most important resources available…1 found this helpful
I wish there was an unstuck button. It's not as scary as some of the other games I've played. I like that it's a little more complicated, like trying to decipher cuniform and such. My problem is that I kept glitching and getting stuck behind shelves. Loading in initially was rough. We had to change up the key bindings when we got in because they were funky. Once we had that settled we then had to mess with the Mic settings. I don't like that the team mic doesn't work between lobby and map. So if you fail, you need to plan in advance if you want to replay or go back to HQ, because you can't hear each other in the in-between menu. We got through the first one and had a successful mission. It was the second one with the tiny-subway map where we kept getting stuck between an object and the wall. Probably would have played more if it didn't glitch so much.1 found this helpful
Its a nice twist on ghost hunting. 4 player multiplier.. recommended with a team, but you can play with just two people and still have a blast!1 found this helpful
In it's current condition I just can't recommend it. I love the game and it's unique ghost hunting gameplay. I've bought a copy for me and my brother and just can't get past most of it's clunkiness. Most enemies just kinda one tap you because of how most of the ghosts move. If not they're a bit boring to deal with, go in wave something in it's face and you win. The main menu UI is not very explanatory and just not very user friendly. The room in which you can test tools isn't great and not very helpful.
I don’t recommend this game. I played it in October 2025, and the biggest downside for me was the gameplay. The sound design and atmosphere aren’t bad — in fact, the game does have a cool and eerie vibe. But the gameplay itself is boring, buggy, and repetitive. The ghost we got on our map was extremely underwhelming: just some ghost kids occasionally running around and screaming. Every so often, the ghost would try to attack, but all you have to do is pull out a cross and burn it, and the attack stops immediately — no real tension or challenge. Toward the end, you run through a long series of cave tunnels — designed a bit like a maze — where you burn a few items. Then the cave supposedly starts collapsing, and you spend a long time trying to find the exit while nothing particularly exciting happens. The worst part is that it just wasn’t scary. For a horror game, that’s a big miss. It ended up feeling like a tedious fetch quest in a setting that could have been amazing if someone had really focused on the gameplay mechanics and pacing. Great atmosphere, wasted potential. Oh, and by the way: I noticed some of the reviews are from as far back as 2022 — and honestly, not much seem…
