It’s a good game! The amount of fights in the game are the key selling point of this, all of them having some form of variance and replayability. The controls are snappy, and don’t slog at all. Very important for this type of game. I like the visual style, and the music is fantastic. I beat it mostly in one sitting without putting the controller down. Very rewarding gameplay. My biggest gripe with the game is everything that wasn’t the actual boxing game itself. Whenever a platforming section came up, I just wanted to go back to the game. This one’s mostly just personal taste. The dialog wasn’t too interesting and the characters themselves didn’t have too much personality. I also never entered halftime except for once because matches ended too quick (nothing wrong with a shorter match). A good chunk of the boxers are overdone tropes with no real sense of cohesion but there’s a few funny ones. I got into their movesets but never really fully embraced the identity of the fighters or the entire game itself if that makes sense. Aside from that, some of the attacks visually aren’t telegraphed too well or visually do not connect. The second circuit final fight was a bit visually…

(note: playtester bias) An overall fun experience, even as someone not really into punch-out. A surprising amount variety in gameplay for what seems like just a boxing game. Very approachable to newcomers, and has great challenges for vetrens. Also has a really well thought out story with great moments at every turn. The main campaign isn't too long, but there's a lot of replay value, plus title defense fights and other secrets. This game is a steal at 10 bucks too, 100% worth your time.

I used to have a massive itch for a new Punch-Out game. At first glance, this game seems like a cute little Punch-Out inspired game, but after playing it, I honestly think it goes way beyond that. It scratched that itch for me, and I’d even go as far as saying it exceeded what I was hoping for. The fights get increasingly epic as you progress, and some of them blew my mind. Deadass, I’ve had some of these fights stuck in my head for a while now. I think the visuals are really charming too, although there’s definitely room for improvement on that front. Still, I had an absolute blast with this game. I’d love to see a sequel someday. Great job :))! I no longer feel the despair of wanting a new Punch-Out game because this game scratched that itch better than I expected.
