Massive disappointment. This game actually pisses me off. Everything from the UI, the camera, horrid mechanics. Like I wanted to like this game. Tried to be fair. I was a big fan of the developer. The original Sonny's and Sinjids were amazing games especially for their times. The dev literally pioneered a little niche in gaming so its a real wonder how this game wound up being this bad. All I can think of is that he took the money from those games and became an alcoholic and or drug abuser ran out of money and wanted to push out another game asap to fuel his addictions. I got this game for 74 cents and I'm still upset about it. It's buggy and afaik no one is going to fix it either. So really don't bother. Not recommended. Never bothered to give a scathing review like this but I haven't found a game that was this big of a letdown either. The originals are available. If you want to play Sonny get those.5 found this helpful
Worst Sonny game I've ever played and it is so hard to bite my tongue and not say anything about it. Playing this game felt like a chore, abilities were shafted, passives were butchered, skill trees were hastily slapped together and the story was a wet noodle. some nice graphics that dont resemble the initial sonny games at all help it float and the name buys it interest but ♥♥♥♥ me if i ever try this game again.2 found this helpful
I find it to be a real shame that the community has not accepted this widely as a new Sonny entry. I think it's really fighting as my favorite alongside Sonny 2. It may be a less serious story, and it may not have the deep psychophysiological characterization of Sonny 2, but combat is fast-paced, fun to plan around in, and the characters have expanded tenfold. It may not have the animations, dress-up, and much voice acting as the older two games had, but this is by all accounts a more closely perfected version of the combat system we had for Sonny 2, with a story that finally has some closure (albeit a saddening but strong one), and some particularly kooky and fun characters met along the way. If you're a fan of Turn Based RPG games and prefer strategy over overlevelling, by all accounts give this one a try. The multiple strain pathways you can take make this game way more replayable than the older two, which although fantastic based themselves off too much on set ability paths which were more effective than others. Wherever Sonny might be now, I'll miss him. We had a very cheery last adventure together.1 found this helpful
so. if you're playing this for nostalgia from the old flash game, the art style and gameplay are so wildly different as to be unrecognizable. If you're in this fresh, the gameplay is very clunky and boring right from the beginning, and the art is hokey, and at odds with the tone of the story, and the story is flat and stale? for either set of players, get Sonny Legacy Collection instead
the god of farms, you won't beat this game without spending 3x times of actual campaign battles farming xp, totally a downgrade from the original. edit: actually you will be farming for gold, because im pretty sure the game as a line of code that makes all the enemies regardless of the stage to have a matching or close enough level of Sonny, I am lv 30 on the chapter 4 boss and because i spend all my money on a speed build i can't defeat the boss and is bs final attack, im not faming 200 money per train to buy gear to 3 diferent characters, i have more games to play, please game respect my time.
